WENT TO SEMA! *PICS* & WATCH D1GP DRIVERS DRIFT! (56k beware)

I had such a blast! If the pics don't load just copy and paste them to your browser and they WILL come up. Getting my pic with Tanaka was the shit

There really isn't a single flaw in the GT-R's. Design, interior, mechanics, its just so damn sexy!

Yeah it is a place for pretty much EVERY manufacturer to show their new products and current products. Sick ass shit, and this year for the first time ever drifting came to the SEMA show courtesy of Yokohama. They paid for the D1 guys to bring over their cars and put on the greatest show I've ever seen. The next time the D1 guys are on this continent there is no doubt I will be there, that is how good it was.

But the size of the show is absolutely insane, tens of thousands of cars, and it literally takes almost 3 straight 9-5 days to cover every inch of it. We spent two 9-5 days there and covered about 80% of it I'd say.

SEMA was fun
the demo was great
fortunately the GRIP video folks let me chill with them and im most appreciative for that. got to talk and ask qs w/ some folks and helped some others. it was great fun.

dd9 was the best dday ever. loads of track time and nice course. my only regret was using used tires. d'oooh! have some car setup stuff to do too

all in all SEMA trip/DD9 was well worth. got the best sponsor one could ever want. im so happy for it and look forward to a long relationship with the company. ill post info later. probably in 2004 after we work otu some details. definately a high note trip for myself and a friend. couldnt have asked for more.

Sponsor?? You sellout!!

As for the pics... meh, some cars are cool, but i dont like the US trends in "tuning" right now...boring and too flashy, nothing really exciting. I think the best pic is that Aztec!!! Woo Wooo. Porps for making an Aztec NOT look like complete ass. Too bad it probably cost $50k. hah.

Oh, one more thing, the team orange cars that were there are not D1 cars. Yeah the drivers compete is D1GP, but those cars do not... juts a little fyi.

APC IS MY NEW HERO!!!!!!!!!!

Dousan, Thats great news. I have been asked couple of times by some Co. to sponsor me but I have turn them all down.

There are so many Companies that is jumping in the wagon of drifting and sponsWHORING everyone. There are more sponsored cars out there than capable drivers/drifters. Not saying you can't drift but there are LOTS of sponsored cars that can't even pull it off.

My main reason why not taking sponsorship (I can get by myself anyways) cause by 2004 there will be a shietload of drivers coming out of nowhere and I HELL dont want to embarrased my ass if I was sponsored and me being nowhere on the top 5 knowing that I DID NOT deserved the sponsorship. Like I said, Ill come by on my own.

Im going alone to be on top as me being a motivation drifter but not having a fuckstick on my back telling me that I gotta win this event. If you are a drifting aspiring you will come out on top no matter what. When you work hard with your shiet you will come on top. I don't have to worry about letting anyone down. I cut all current sponsorship this year, even my tire guys.

Goodluck to all of you guys that is to be an aspiring drifters rather than chasing sponsorship to get free shiet. Yeah, Its good to get free stuff but when MONEY is involved... Things are not going to be friendly around your competition time.

oh yeah Ueno's car..his backup too. looks the same though

also found out, lindsay knows what im talking about for sure, but others might too

the white Soarer in the Volk ads is Ueno's mechanic's car.

but all the cars here in the USA are backup/beater cars.

oh and the girl who drove, her name is Natusko Muraoka. she tore it up. very skilled. ithink...8 years drifting? or more..i forget what she said.

al, this company isnt new or poser. they have been into the drift stuf for years and aer very reputable and do lots of fab and quality work. i would never sell otu to some newb company with people who i dont support or bandwagon hop. i guarantee that! talking with the owners ends up we like the same body kits and the same style of cars and such. also they are good friends with some other folks who are no newbies too haha..

i would turn down anyone who is whoring otu. actually i probably have the least skill compared with the 3 other drivers who they support. (2 are hawaiians and event winners)

anyways..yeah i understand.

i too agree w/ 2004 stuff. lots of skilled folks coming out of the woodwork. for me, just do my best. sponsor helps me keep my car running and event fees andall. without that, i cant do anything. i am not rich or a company owner or anything. just enjoy driving. so with the help of a small company, it keeps me at the events. i too dont think im good enough as of yet, but ill always do the best i can to do my best and place well. last fwe events i've gotten past the first round(s) so im pretty please for being a newb on a stock KA with little expirience under the belt.

oh yes and of course i should still be driving my own personal car

tires hahahah..DONT dont even get me started on tire sponsors. there are quite a lot who arent deserving, but i guess when good head is given, the sky is the limit!

nah this sponsor wont be all over my back and tell me to win. they arent like that. totally chill. i do my best and they know that.

good luck to you too Al, see you at all this competitions BS (imho it is BS) that's going on next year. should be fun either way.

Ah I forgot Ueo's car was there, I didnt know about NOB's car. But i think the S15 he wrecked at USA D1 was NOT a backup, thats why they were all pissed about it. Maybe it was a replica, but Errin was tellin us how it appeared to him to be the exact car he saw in Japan for the.... real.... D1 event he went to.

I can vouch for them..they are VERY close personal friends of mine (was best man at his wedding) and they are very far away from poser. I gave my seal of approval for you knuckleheads..so don't let me down. LOL! (they did ask me).
