PRODUCT REVIEW: Parts Shop MAX fender roller.
*I have no association with either company.*
this write up isn't to put down any product its just a comparison. This is a review for the v2 Parts Shop Max fender roller. For this review I compared the Parts Max roller and the Eastwood roller. Let me start off by saying that my experience with Parts shop MAX was great, there customer service is awesome, there shipping was very fast, and the product was pretty good itself. ![]() the good. First off some comparison of the Max roller and the Eastwood roller. Both have a similar shape because they are used for the same thing which is rolling and pulling fenders. the MAX roller is great for the lowered cars with coilover setups that have very little travel. It gives you up to 3.5 more inches to play with than the Eastwood roller does. over my experiences lowering and lifting the coilovers takes up most of the time when fender rolling the Max roller eliminates this problem with its compact shape. ![]() ![]() ![]() the Max roller uses bolts for adjusting other than the twist tight Eastwood roller. this gives you a more secure angle that will not move under pressure that you may get when doing agressive rolls or pulls. you have to loosen and tighten each time you adjust the head. makes for a more predictable roll. the Max roller also has a notch cut out of the shaft that will give you more of an angle for a flatter lip. ![]() ![]() preping the roller there where a few things you want to do before using the roller. -The roller does not come pre lubricated ![]() -the outer surfaces of the wheel is bare metal and when adjusting and angling the roller, the metal on the roller head will touch the inner surface to where it is mounted. this will stop the roller from moving I fixed this by adding 2 washer to each end of the wheel. now the roller will spin freely. ![]() ![]() ![]() The bad The only issue I had with the roller was the polyurethane wheel, the material on the wheel is very soft, too soft, when placing it on the lip it gave too much even with a very slight angle the roller did not want to bend the lip ![]() the material on the MAX roller is very thin in comparison tho the Eastwood roller ![]() ![]() I re adjusted and tried it a few time until the material (polyurethane) gave and ripped ![]() ![]() ![]() MY fix = ultra Hybrid roller ![]() tested on Matheta's car thank you for reading. try just swapping the wheels inbetween the two instead of the entire arm?
try securing the eastwood wheel with a bolt instead of the chuck key/bolt? try swapping the top half w/wheel from the eastwood to the pbm using the pbm bolt? |

switching the head is alot easier than all that jazz, its one bolt. and the internals are different between both of roller wheels, bearing size, center shaft

Who is the girl? :P
You should let PBM know about the problem with the wheel so they can do something about it.

I pm'd them today I'm sure they will fix it and it will be superb, all new products have some bugs but you cant beat that compact design, cars that would take a few hour now only take around 2hrs !!!!

Nice...I'm buying 1 or the other and my Friend has a Modified Eastwood roller.
had it cut and welded back SHORTER like the PBM roller. So he's got the Perfect combo. whats the Price diff?? PBM is way cheaper yes?? wonder if a Skateboard wheel w/ a bearing would even work for a wheel replacement??

I also have a parts shop max roller although I've yet to use it, I am wondering what could be done to remedy the material situation? Did you heat the fender sufficiently?

lol @ hybrid roller..
great review man. very detailed. That's cool how the PBM roller is shorter. I think when I was rolling my rears with the eastwood, I had to remove the top hats of my rear coilover to get more clearance... =X

er... yeah... I unno, the PBM roller never tickled my fancy. I've used the eastwood roller on many a car with no real complaints. Though I did get rid of that quick adjustment bolt and installed a standard bolt instead.

Very good write up, looks like I forgot to put those washer on your roller... they all should have been shipped out with the washers to work smoothly.
the wheels on the other hand look like an issue... I'm on it. stay tuned.

I forgot, but if you use the roller, you should angle it so the rollen bends the lip up instead of pushing straight into the lip.
That might be why you punctured the roller.

I start every roll at an almost flat angle, you get the lip to bend upward first than once that at a 45% angle i re adjust the roller to a more vertical position
