would a bad temp sensor make the idle at neutral die?

my temp sensor flickers low to middle many times while i drive. its not steady.

There are two different sensors. One that goes to the gauge and another that goes to your computer. Its highly unlikely that both have gone out but, stranger things have happened! Either way doesnt sound to me like something that would cause rough idle. Can you rev the engine smoothly? Does it smell rich when you do? Is it throwing a code? You know a an actron scan tools is $140 and really a good investment, if not go to Autozone and get it scanned for free. If they tell you there tool is broken dont believe em!!!!! They hate scanning because they have to do it all day. LOL
