Nismo sells a pretty good cam, I priced it out one time. I think it was close to $500 with everything from Nissan, they have one for race and one for street. Nismo catalog is $5 from any Nissan Dealer

what cam spec you looking for? you going to be boosting or na build? Jwt and nismo are ungodly overpriced, pdm/colt makes good regrinds i have personally used a few of theirs. The head on my car is for sale with pdm stage 2 cam and solid lifter conversion, im going to a very very high lift cam. find a regrinder near your area and tell them the specs you want. Cam grinding is nothing special, jwt, nismo, pdm and other make a lot of money off cam grinds.

there is no difference in "performance". lift is still lift and duration is still duration. When regrinds require many thousands taken off bearing caps, the issues is with rocker arm angle. With any high lift cam solid adjustable lifters should be used, and with huge regrinds adjustable lifters are necessary to get appropriate rocker angle, and valves "may" need to be shortened. Kid stuff.

That is correct. There is no diff in performance. I would never do a regrind for reliability issues tho. Nismo sells billet cam blanks if you want to do a custom grind.

In my opinion buy Devious's head! That sounds like a pretty good deal! Find out the cam specs. BTW Nismo's are regrinds thats why they offer a billet cam for like 500 or something like that.
Either way the Nismo cam is an excellent choice and you know it will work for what ever you want to do with the car.

Whats wrong with re-grinds? I have one in my TURBO 280Z and its just fine. They used to run the re-grind Nismo cams all the time in the GT series 240sx's on the SCCA circuit.

im actualy sticking to N/A beczuse this is just for a daily driver....i felt that it needed a bit more power, i also dont wanna spend lots of cash on the best cams out there.....i dont know how long im gonna keep this car for but i know its gonna be for another year or so, unless something comes up before that... i wanted to know a general price, wat gains would i get in preformance and if there is anything else i would have to do to the head? (valves, springs, etc.)

240mph,

You still have the cam. Let me know.

PDM racing has 3 stages of cams you should hit them up. They are 250 each plus core.

All my race heads have had regrinds in them and I've never once had a problem with them.

LOL! Regrind vs. billet.
Regrinds require a bit more mechanics to get into the motor and work properly, whereas billet are designed to drop right in. That's about it. With a billet cam, expect to pay a premium to not have any installation issues. With a regrind, expect to pay additional cash ($64 to be more exact) for new shims, the occasional other parts listed above (not always needed), and a bit more time to install.
JWT cams are $560 last I checked (when I bought mine).
And 240mph, please refrain from typing in all caps.

Drop right in? A billet cam is a cam stock:no lobes! At least the ones in the Nismo catalog are, my friend oredered a set for his sr20 powered sand rail. A machine shop charges max, $60 to setup the valvetrain for a regrind. Which is the least expense to worry about when getting a new cam, dont forget the new valvetrain components required.

The term billet camshaft isn't always used to describe a blank one. There are billet pre-grinds too. but it goes both ways

If you flip through any parts catalog, Summit, Jegs, ect, they separate the cams into billet cams and regrind cams. Billet cams just describe that they were once billet steel and regrinds are just that. I believe that JWT called my cams billet cams, too. It's a normal term to call it, and are you sure that Nismo didn't call it a billet cam blank?

Nissan Motorsports (not NISMO) sells the KA24E cam billet...they just call it a billet and then describe it as having the cam lobes UNGROUND. Nissan Motorsports (again not NISMO) also sells a KA24E performance cam that is not a regrind...it is purely drop in.

I see....sorry...I always thought that since thats the way saw it through NISMO that it was always true for a billet cam. I see now that it can go both ways!

Yeah, learning is fun LOL!

doesnt have performance #'s but it does list the lift and technical data specific to each camshaft

Also the book is only $5 at your local nissan dealer!

Good Luck!

I guess I'm ignorant but I always thought that Nismo and Nissan Motorsports referred to the same thing.

And yes as long as the regrind comes with accurate instructions for install it will perform just as well. They were probably bad installs but I've seen some horrible results from using regrinds.

For anyone interested:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2446435764

I ran accross it today, and I already have a kit going on my car, and I've already rebuilt my block so I don't need it.
