Angry I hate wiring... I really do [Help please]

I've search from threads, single posts, numerous of other threads, hell, even non car related threads on this stupid issue i have of mine.

The infamous Parasitic Draw!

We all hate this and these cars are notorious of this so with that being said. I've already factored out most.

Starter is good
Alternator is good
Check all grounds
Checked lose connections.
75amp alt fuse check.

Did the whole test light procedure and seen that i do have a draw. I go to my kick panel and pull out the "Room Lamp" fuse - and the light dims. So right there tells me that the draw has to be there. But question is, what all does the room lamp fuse run into; i've gathered - clock, dome light (room lamp) the front two dome lights & radio.

Question i have is; if you have no draw will the light be off or will it still be on only dim?

Im getting irritated on trying to find this and still no luck. I have an aftermarket stereo - but i even disconnected that radio harness and the light didnt dim. ECU disconnect - stayed on. Checked all fuses & relays, stays on. Only room lamp fuse dims.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

1st get a digital multimeter

Next, google: Battery Drain Parasitic Draw Testing

It's a tedious procedure, but it will save you $$ replacing batteries in the long run

Switching the fuse won't do anything to help you out on your problem.

A more precise way to measure the draw when the IGN is completely off is to connect a DVOM in series with the positive battery terminal and cars + batt terminal. The DVOM needs to be set to measure amps. Set the scale to large. Start pulling the suspected fuses(make sure doors are closed, obviously and check glove box light , I dont know if 240's have them but check it out) and watch the DVOM readout or have a buddy tell you the read out. You want no more than .030 mAh of parasitic draw. Here is a little picture to show you how to hook up the DVOM. IF you dont know how to use a DVOM ask someone to help you, if you don't hook up your DVOM leads correctly you could pop the internal fuse or fuck it up.

In this thread I learned that 240sx's are notorious for parasitic draw.

+1 for what holslut said.

But, something that was not mentioned is having an FSM!!!!!! If you don't have one-- get one. There really is no excuse for anybody that has an S chassis to not have one.

Next... READ the FSM. It will tell you exactly what circuits each fuse protects. For some people it may not be easy to understand, but once you learn how to use the FSM, the only limiting factor for fixing your car is tools.
