300zx brake upgrade ??'s

Quick question here:

To do the 300zx front calipers on my '98 240sx, do I need some new brake lines? I see these "kits" selling that include stainless brake lines. But, I already have stainess braided brake lines. Do I need NEW stainless lines?

Also, is there a place to buy rebuilt calipers? I'm skeptical of junkyard parts that might be needed to save my life one day, so I'm looking for a reputable source.

Thanks.

i dont think you have to buy new brake lines but the stock 240 ones arent strong enough. you will also need an adapter for the calipers to hook up. those can be bought at projectsilvia.com or other sites. usually when u get a junkyard caliper you rebuild them. go to an auto store and get a caliper rebuild kit. that will come with all the nessary seals and shit. good luck

also id upgrade the master cylinder too.

Ok. Reading through the articles (nice links, thanks), it seems as though the mating of the lines to the calipers is different on the 240 calipers vs. the 300zx calipers.

However, now I have a brand new question:
If there are both 26mm and 30mm brakes for the 300zx, why would anyone choose the 26mm? Isn't the point of going with the 300zx brakes to go bigger? What is holding everyone back from going with 30mm?

Is this just for the s13s with 15" rims?

I've got my s14 with stock 16" rims and plan on some nice 17x8's later that should easily clear the 300zx calipers. Would it be safe to say that the 30mm would be a better fit?

26mm = lighter + slimmer

The whole reason is easier fitment of wheels. If you have wheels that will clear, go for the 30mm iron ones. They resist warping the rotors, and are easy to find.
