What do you mean it rattles? There's no way in hell that tiny thing could make a noise audible in the cabin. Do you mean it rattles it's way off the actuator mount? There should be a c clip holding it on. If you have some kind of noise in your engine bay you'd better start looking else where.

And why does that even bother you? It's only function is to move back and forth as long as it's doing that who cares. If you have a c clip and it's not falling off from vibration there's no need to worry about it.

i have never heard of this problem before, but maybe putting a washer behind the c-clip will fix your problem.

Everybody stfu for a second. Had this before on adustable rod, and its very very very annoying. That shit can be as loud as a fart can muffler on a 50cc scooter.
So here is how to fix, basically there is no tension on the rod which should be. You need to take the 2 bolts off that is holding the actuator to the compressor housing and put washers in between so it will move the actuator away and give it tension and you should be all good.
But what you really need to do is replace that 20yo actuator. 90% its leaking and not functioning right.
