Maintenance: which spark plug wires?
Well, after owning my S13 fastback for about 5 months now, and not knowing when/if any maintenance has been done(probally hasn't for quite sometime) I'm in the market for some new spark plugs and wires. I was originally planning on getting Aurora plug wires from PDM Racing, but i've read that the connector tends to stay clamped onto the plug and the boot comes detached, thus having to re-crimp them to fix.
Should I just stick with the NGK wires? I was searching for the lowest prices, and $75 has been the lowest I've seen, at www.2kracing.com. Anyone know where I could find them cheaper? Another option I'm seriously looking at are Accel wires for about $52, although I saw no black, only Red, Yellow and Blue wires(wweak!!) They seem to be a bit cheaper than the NGKs, are they lacking in quality at all? As for spark plug replacements, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick with the NGK V-Power plugs. I was thinking about the NGK Iridium, but read that the only real advantage is the extended life of the plug, anyone contradict this? Along with new plugs and wires, I'm getting a new distributer cap, rotor, o2 sensor, and using some Seafoam. After I run the Seafoam through the brake booster line, I'll change the oil/oil filter. Any other idea's to help me prolong the life of my KA w/ 170K on it?? Sorry to add to the numerous threads about spark plugs/wires! I just don't want to be unsatisfied with the product I choose. Thanks for your time, and sorry to make you suffer reading through this massive post!
