custom i/c piping

im sorry if this has been discussed but i searched to no prevail. i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get custom intercooler piping bent for me in the southern california area? i've heard any muffler shop could do it, but i just wanted to see if anyone on here has dealt with a certain place and had good experiences. i live in long beach so around that area would be nice. thanks a lot

muffler shops crushbend when they bend it for you, you need to find a place to weld you one from mandrel bends (or the much rarer option of find a place that does mandrel bends).

best way to do this is buy prebent mandrel pieces from either:

www.jcwhitney.com (overall the cheapest place for it)
www.burnsstainless.com
www.stahlheaders.com

then cut/piece together your piping and mark which piece needs to be welded to which and the orientation of which it needs to be welded, THEN take it to a muffler shop for welding. it's a whole lot cheaper this way, believe me.

so what's so CHEAP about the SR swap again?

does anyone know wat size and type of bend piping i should buy in order to make custom i/c plumbing for a front mount intercooler on an s13 coupe? ill most likely be buying them from MeMe from these forums. i just want to know the radius of the plumbing, wat type of bends would make it a bit easier for me, how much plumbing i need, etc.

For my s14, it's (from the turbo) a 90, 45, 90, Intercooler, 180* U-bend, 90, then like a 130 (part of another 180). FMax sure did an awesome job.
And I shopped around for mandrel bends for my downpipe, and www.roadraceengineering.com was the cheapest. Very strict ordering/credit card policy, but awesome customer service and good prices.

i used 3 U-bends for the hot side. two 2" bends to get to the fender, then one 2.5" from the fender to the IC. cold side; i used two U-bends. 2.5" and 3". i cut a hole in the battery tray. if you go with fmax's design you will need another U-bend.

it also helps to have scrape Ubends that were cut up. i went to a muffler shop to have the pipe expanded. 2.5 to 3"

We can do your mandrel intercooler piping.... www.garageworksltd.com

Road race is always very busy, very expensive, and they specialize in DSM's. They know their stuff and are good at what they do, but a friend of mine that was into DSM's had nothing but bad luck with them......they lag.
