Power windows don't work

'95 240

Driver side power window and power door lock does not work. Passenger side power window also does not work but passenger power door lock does work. I checked the fuses and they seem to be fine. Have any ideas?

I took out the driver's side panel and looked at the connections and they seemed to be ok. Funny thing, is that the other day the turn signals were not working but the windows were working. Now the turn signals work but the windows do not.

I know the S13 has a power amplifier for the windows on the drivers side that commonly goes out, but I'm not positive if the S14 has one.

Obviously, check your fuses and voltage first. If those check out, see if the power amplifier (little black box in circuit to the window switch) is working. I don't know how to test it specifically, but you can get one at a junk yard for some spare change.

Hope that helps, good luck!

Thanks man. I've looked around about the amp and have learned that '95 s14 can have an amp problem, and they can be fixed I think by soldiering iron if connection is bad.

But it's weird that passenger side window also does not work so that makes it seem like there is another issue instead, I'll recheck the fuses again.

I found the amp and checked it out, it seemed to be in good condition to me. It's weird how both driver and passenger window switches don't work. I'm thinking maybe the driver side window/lock switch assembly might have gone out. Maybe I'll get a new one of those and try it out.

I checked the power window fuse with a fuse checker and it turned out good.

...what exactly is a fuse checker? I always thought you just pulled them out, and looked at them to see if the thing had contact. You can always jump a fuse with a small piece of wire btw. I always keep fuses and a chunk of wire in all my cars. Being stranded sucks.

Yeah I guess I wanted to just double check it after I looked at it to be sure. It's just a $5 thing you can get at autozone that lights up when you connect the fuse to it.
