S14 sr20det questions

Do both S14 sr20det's have VVTi? or is it just the blacktop?

Also I was told that it would be harder to swap an sr20det into an s14 for some reason but I thought that it was easier to swap the motor into an S14. I was told about 2700 for full swap(S13 front clip and install) into an S13 chassis. When I bought my car I ended up buying an S14 and now I am told that it will be around 3200 for the swap(S13 front clip and install) because the swap is a little bit harder in an S14(more labor)?

even $3200 is still a pretty good deal...

and as far as i know both zenki and kouki s14 SR20DETs came with a black valve cover...could be wrong of course...but i thought it was only the s13's that had red and then black...

look for the angled rear of the valve cover...i believe this denotes VVT..

S14 SR20DET's are all black tops, all have VVT.
It will be more $ becuase there is a little more labor and tidious work then an
S13 car with S13 SR.

It all depends on the clip. I havent checked lately but S14 clips will run you roughly $3k and another $1k-1.5k for install depending on where you get it. If you only have an engine set...the easiest way to say if its a S13 or S14 blacktop is the notch on the rear of the valve cover...if it has it...its a S14 *notchtop*. The reason why it cost more to swap a S13 SR into a S14 is because the wiring is a tad bit different==a bit more work.

Do you know anywhere that sells the S14 clip for 3G? the cheapest I saw...well the only place that I saw them selling the front clip online was 3300plus shipping here
Also...does anyone know how much more work is involved with swapping the car from auto to manual when doing the engine swap?

Oh yeah, try www.jarcoinc.com for engines. I think they may be a little pricey, but they actually drive the car before they take the engine out... and make sure it runs well. And don't go by what's on their inventory page... call them up and talk to them.

Additional. So it was $3550 in all. But... I got a really good deal. No hookups, nothing, so I don't really get why I got such a good deal. From what I've read/learned... here's what you're looking at. $2800-3200 for a motorset or clip, anywhere from $800-1200 for the labor for the engine swap, and almost always an extra $500 for an auto to manual conversion. Where are you located? I know of a few places. I got mine done at Augusta Performance... Augusta, GA. I know of a place in Tampa, FL too, called XAT performance or something like that. And there are a few good places on the East Coast as well. Obviously if you're in Cali, there are tons of shops... but it seems to cost more there too because of the high demand. I hope this info helps.

This site will give you some good info on prices, etc. They do swaps too.

Also, another shop in Atlanta, GA, is Battlegrounds Engineering... I forgot the website tho.

Here's another place in South Carolina: http://www.jkmsports.com/index.htm
