Tranny whine

Bought an s13 with an SR...and previous owner claimed the throw out bearing was the cause of the whine and it would do it while the clutch was engaged... So I ripped it out and went ahead got a new CC stage 2 and resurfaced the fly wheel ordered a new clutch sleeve release bearing and throw out bearing from FR threw it on and cranked it up ... When clutch is dis-engaged tranny kinda chatters almost the same sound as the thowout bearing sounds ... But I can drive it fine and still goes into every gear... Doesn't whine 4 or 5th gear... Also When I pull off on first gear the wheels kinda lock up and clunk... Don't know if it's a welded dif or cause of the transmission... Any input would help! Thanks guys....

Just to be clear, dis engaged means you are pushing down on the clutch pedal correct? Which TOB did you use? LUBE it up?

Why did you get the narrow and the sleeve? Why not the 300zx TOB with the standard sleeve?

so the clutch is engaged - meaning you aren't pushing down on the clutch pedal and its whining... That means its the throw out bearing or the tranny itself.... I wonder if it is making that noise due to vibration....

Check if you adjusted the pedal correctly. In neutral on flat ground, are you about 1.5" to 2" off the floor with the pedal and the car starts moving?

Couldn't find the 300zx one and I couldn't find an oem dealer took 5 - 7 for a clutch sleeve release bearing ... So I ordered both things from FR sport .... I also have the one CC sent me

and when I have it in neutral and not pressing the clutch in it chatters .....almost the same as If the throw out bearing was out... And it does it in every gear if the clutch is not pressed in.... And the whining is when your actually getting on it or down shifting to 2nd or third...

I'll measure it tonight....

Check your engagement.....

I am going to ask a stupid question, but did you torque spec the flywheel bolts and in a star shape pattern? Did you clean the flywheel with brake cleaner?

Did you torque down the pressure plate and use a clutch alignment tool to make sure the clutch disc is centered when putting on the pressure plate?

Yessir did all that properly flywheel in a star pattern to 100ft lbs and put the alignment key on and then tightened the pressure plate in a pattern to 22ft lbs ..... Don't know where I could have gone wrong...?
Pilot bearing was put in correctly ...?

Maybe just a fucked up tranny?
