I been anime fan a number of years. Never bought movies until last year. I consider anime to be better them most "cortoons" out their Batman *cough*. In fact I say anime is in it's own league.

So what you people like samuri action, robots or other things. Which movies are good and which ones suck. Takumi seems to know allot about anime anyone else? Hey anyone got good sites to buy anime?

I'm in the fansubbing ring slightly (used to be all over dal.net but oooh well [and don't make fun of me for being a dal.netter >_<])
Right now I'm watching Vandread Season 2 on my other comp (w000t! have 2 right now!). Other anime on the drive is X TV, Fruits Basket, Noir, etc. I pretty much have a mix of everything. The anime I've watched the most, though, is Initial D

I'm probably gonna get started on Mahoromatic. I need to find out where I can get the Cowboy Bebop movie, I think it's called "Knocking On Heaven's Door" or something. =/

Wew, glad I'm not the only anime fan. I was afraid I'd sound like a geek or something. @_@

A good friend of mine got me into anime a couple of years ago, and I love it. I like Neon Genisis Evangelian, and of course Intial D. (In fact, I downloaded almost an entire season of it, and I maxed out my hard drive. LoL. Unfortunately, I had to delete it.)

Funny, with me, it was cars first, then anime. Well, with the anime fandom, it didn't quite kick in until I went beyond Dragonball Z. Oh boy, I've been through different stages of fandom.

-Casual watcher
-Newbie
-Obsessed-newbie
-Otaku Elitist (declared hatred towards DBZ and Sailor Moon as well as anything dubbed in English, it's kinda like saying I hate Hondas because they're everywhere)
-Otaku (matured more as a fan, became more open minded, but still obsessed, attended conventions)
-...and now I'm just an "anime fan" since I didn't quite have the time and energy devoted to the hobby in the past year.

I've been an Anime fan for close to 4 years now. I used to run a Fansub distro for 2 years(Junanagou Fansubs) but gave it up when I went on a quest for a 240 FB. Fansub distroing was fun, I got hooked up to distro masters from Vortex Fansubs(the chic that subbed Initial D 2nd Stage, Extra Stage and 3rd Stage). My favorite animes since I've started out have been:

Dragon Ball/Z- Kinda cliche now but you gotta love the humor and the Andriods ^_^
Evangelion- Makes me feel sick everytime I see Asuka and think that she's hot even though she is 14
Initial D- Probably is the greatest Anime that has come out in a long time. I'm not just saying that b/c I love cars. It has an awesome story line, great humor, character development, OST, and drama.
Marmalade Boy- One of the greatest Shoujo Dramas
Hana Yori Dango- a close 2nd behind MB
Rose of Versaille- comes in the 3rd
Macross 7- The only mecha-anime I've seen that can keep me wanting more
Rurouni Kenshin- Samurias, sword play, Mejei era, comedy.. enough said.
Yu Yu Hakusho- Awesome Martial arts action, comedy, bloody fights, cool techinques and more bloody fights
Akazukin Cha Cha- Cute, and fuckin Hilarious
Gate Keepers- Beautiful animation, comedy, good story line, and cool fights
Slam Dunk- Not much of a Basketball fan, but this show is awesome
Inuyasha- Really good action/comedy
Blue Gender- I dunno why I love this show, I just do
Berserk- Totally Totally fuckin awesome show
Kaikan Phrase- really good drama about a stuggling rock band
Lupin III- Really funny cops vs. robbers show where the robbers always win
Please Save My Earth- I've seen the OVA and Movie almost 30 times and I still can't watch it without busting out in tears

That's it. Sorry for the long post ^_^

I'm actually getting tired of Super Eurobeat music (more commonly Initial D music for those who don't know). I used to play Para Para Paradise and a few of the Dance Dance Revolution mixes (4th and 5th) which had Eurobeat songs in it. After a while, it gets tiring.

Well, the term "otaku" is commonly known to describe anyone who's really into their hobby. I mean, REALLY into it. In the US, the term "otaku" just says they're a huge fan of whatever they're doing. However, in Japan, the term "otaku" just means "geek with nothing else better to do except devoting their lives to that particular hobby." I stand by the US definition. ^_^

I'm more of a car "otaku" than I am of anime these days. I'm more thrilled with going to car meets, car shows, and stuff than going to an anime convention or an anime shop.

As for fansubs. You have a group of "fans" who find an anime series they want to translate and "sub"title themselves because it's not available in the US yet. The nature of the fansubs is to spread the word about certain anime series. Also, it's supposed to be free, well, okay, technically the cost of the tape, labeling (if available), and shipping. A lot of groups buy Japanese laser-discs and/or DVD's, then bring 'em into their computers to do subtitling. Then they record them to a VHS tape or in most cases, encode them into .avi or .mpg so they can spread them around the 'net. Most "legit" fansub distributors, who do distribute these videos for the subtitling groups, would remove titles that have been officially licensed by a company in the US. When a title is released domestically, their job of spreading the word is done. So they encourage you to trash those fansubs and get the real stuff. Most people don't do that anyway. So in essence, fansubs are basically, "made for the fans, by the fans."

For more info, just go here.
http://www.fansubs.net/view.php3?page=nature

Don't ask me whether or not fansub tapes are illegal because I honestly ain't sure. It's a grey area with that sort of thing and it's been debated ever since I got into anime. People would argue over and over about this shit to a point where I basically got sick of reading it on anime message boards. Just watch whatever the #### you want, however you want. That's all I gotta say.

Nice too see the fans in this board. I don't like series thought, I like one night stand deals. In 2 weeks I'm buying anime again you people got any thing for me? I like samurai X and robots stuff. Recommended me real anime not something dubbed by bunch of otaku "Japanese definition".

Check out the Macross Plus movie, Spriggan, and X: The Movie. You can find those on DVD or VHS. Not sure about the movie version of Macross Plus on DVD, but the 4 part series is available in a couple DVD's.

Oh c'mon now...the fansubbers don't spend ALL their time fansubbing. Give 'em a little credit here, they don't do that shit for fun on their spare time. Just think if fansubs like MP3's.

I have X the movie that thing freak me out. Okay I'll give them credit.( I think). Are they actually doing any good bringing anime to the US like that? When I buy a movie I want the highest quality possible because I'm a watching it many times. I don't a watch something buy a bunch of amateurs. Sorry I might be close minded but thats how I look at it. I still want the DvD initial d to throw away all 2.5GBs is taking up in my computer plus the quality sucks. .

You mean this one? ¬_¬

hold alt then press 1 7 2 then underline and do it again. I think Macross Plus has 4 episodes. There's also a movie out that just summarizes the 4-part series, but some scenes were altered and there's a more dramatic ending. So just check out the 4-episodes and the movie.
