jacking point Q

hey guys quick q

is it ok to jack up the car from the chassis itself and you put wood on the jack to do it? or would that bend the actual chassis? and i dont mean the body jacking points, the actual chassis.

thanks for the responses

Some people, like me, dont give a fuck and will jack the car up on the pinch welds. If I can help it, I'd jack the car up from the tow hooks or cross member.

I jack up calls all day it work. As long as you have a nice flat surface you can lift from the pinch welds. Yes even on s cars. Just take off the swivel cup and use the flat part, that's what I do and have yet to bend any

i usually use the tow hooks as jacking points.

anyways, jack it up from wherever youd like. but always support it from the recommended jack/safety stand areas. we dont need cars falling on people.

^ tow hooks are the easiest way.

if i have to get the front end up higher, i use a wood block between the jack and front cross member.

or if youre low, you cant reach the front crossmember nor the diff.

i jack it up by the tow hook and put jack stands on the pinch welds

the chassis' are all different, no one is really specifying what chassis they have.

if youre gonna place the jackstands on the frame rails, you have to place them at specific, reinforced areas. many a zilvian has dented in their frame rails lifting/supporting their car at the wrong area.

best thing to do is go check out your specific fsm here, click on car, year and then GI (general info) and scroll down til you find your photo.
