Leaking oil pan??

I've serached but found nothing usefull that I havn't checked

OK here goes.

1990 KA24E
: Replaced Radiator, changed oil (switched to Mobile1 Sythetic), changed oil filter (Fram X2) replaced Valve Cover gasket because of oil leak:

It seems that I'm leaking coolant from the Oil pan on the front of it by the drivers side bolt. I poured coolant in and went under the carafter a couple of seconds it kind of started bubbling where the oil pan meets the block.

I tightned the bolt a little bit (it was already pretty tight) and it stopped bubbling. drove the car for a awhile and checked again and it is still leaking.

Now, this is what I see when i get under my car. It seems that at some point in the cars history it leaked coolant from the water pump area because there is old dry coolant their. Now after checking the car, the coolant was still dry even after I put more coolant in. So, i don't think its leaking from the water pump.

No my question is, is it possible to leak coolant from the oil pan? How easy of a fix is chaning the oil pan gasket?

I checked the oil and there is no coolant in it and the coolant on the ground (and the drops of coolant leaking) have no oil in them.

I'm I wrong? could the leak be somewhere else that i'm just not seeing?

help, i really don't feel like spending $10 a week on coolant just to keep filling it up.

Other then the leak, it runs normal (both temp and power)

It's your waterpump. The waterpump will weep when the seal is going bad to let you know when to replace it. Mine is doing the same thing right now. You should replace it within the next month or two or else you could run into some problems.

No...not like the sound weep. If you look on the underside of your water pump, you'll notice a small hole that is drilled into it. This hole (refered to as a weep hole) is designed to leak when the seals inside the pump are about to go. It's to make you aware changing the pump out is soon to be in order before more problems occur.

oh ok, lol

Any idea as to why it was bubbling around the oil pan gasket?

could it be my gasket is going out and letting some air out or is it just a coincidense(sp?)

I'm not leaking oil

oh and changing the water pump is fairly easy right?

take off fan and fan clutch, loosen belt, unscrew pump?

If you're not leaking oil then I would leave the oil pan alone. Changing the water pump is as easy as you described. I recommend using the gasket maker from the dealership...it might save you from doing things twice.
