motor swap questions

I found this s14 for sale but it has 200 K miles.
I'm kinda sketchd out about the miles so I was wondering if I swap the motor out ( ka or Sr) depending...would the transmission need to be swapped out to? I'm fairly new to the 240 game and want to get deeper in it. Any help and tips will be appreciated

Honestly, I would. But they are generally built to withstand years of casual driving. My transmission is original and my car is nearing that 200K range.

Is the car a shell or has a motor in it?

Miles don't really mean anything imo, more so how the car was driving. For example I have 236k on my chassis clean, the bushings aren't shot and i've seen cars with 80k rusted car is falling apart.

To the question about your motor swap and trans. If you were to go ka just get a ka motor and trans and if go sr go sr motor and trans. KA/SR/RB20's trans are all the same internally but have different housings. Yes this does mean you can swap them out.

I'm just paranoid about something happening to my motor cuz of the miles. How Much do those motors usually run ? Along with the tranny

And the motor is already in the car

ka's go anywhere from a case of beer to like $400 depending on what done to it etc, unless its built then it will be more. An sr I've seen go from $1200 for a complete motorset to $2000 depends on alot of things.

The tranny's are not the same. KA has a longer 5th gear than the rest. If it's a daily, and you go SR, you can put the sr bellhousing on the ka tranny and cruise at a lower rpm = better fuel economy.

Other than maybe doing a ghetto compression check, theres not much you can check other than visual inspection.
