TPS Help
Recently i had a shop install my new wiring harness (s14 chassis to s13 engine), i was told i need to set my tps sensor, so i did that..
-ign on, used throttle body as ground, tps plug on sensor, and checked each wire, they all said 4.95v (wide open). I tried Ohm testing the sensor, nothing. Am i going about this the wrong way? its a brand new harness and tps sensor. |

IGN on, Use the TPS black wire as ground probe it with the multimeter ground, and then probe the red 5v power wire. With throttle closed you should be getting .4-.5v and @ WOT should see 4.2-4.5v. Loosen the (2) little bolts holding the TPS and adjust the TPS up or down until you get your correct readings at IDLE and @ WOT. Tighten very carefully as it could move the TPS sensor. |

Ok.. cant seem to measure the v..red probe in the middle pin, ground on pin c (bottom pin) im getting .4v doesn't change with throttle position.
while idle, the cars afr is about 9.8.. i unplug the tps.. doesn't change a thing. |

Either way the TPS should be reading 4.0-4.4 wide open. But if you're still that rich you may have other issues. Have you checked for boost leaks or other mechanical issues that could be causing the high idle AFRs?

When probing the wires.. they all read 4.95v.. shouldn't one read 5, one .5 and the other, nothing?
Ohm testing: new sensor 1.6k open 5k closed old sensor 5k open 13.3k closed .. the old one is garbage, right? |

Black probe on the MM goes into the Ground via the TPS (black wire). Now, your TPS should read .4-.5v idle and 4.0 - 4.5v WOT. This is with the TPS connected. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKK7QdochkI |

Are you even adjusting the TPS to find the .45v? IF your TPS is out of whack and not set in the proper position then you wont see a .45v at idle/TB closed. THATS what you need to set it too hence the guys telling you to (Set your TPS)

Not that i know of. Seems like you have a bad TPS unless you are not doing something correctly. Make sure the IGN is on. Who did the wiring for you? Maybe the new the TPS was a problem so they had you "set it"
