Crankshaft position sensor sub-harness location? (pic)

Well my tach is not working right. Sputters to 2k max at times but mostly stays idle. Was told to check the crankshaft position sensor. FSM says to unplug the sub harness. I looked I cant even find the harness on my S14. The closest things is a purple connector but i dont think thats it. not sure what exactly is causing tach problem though.

Attached Pic is from FSM showing sub harness location

ya its at the top of the bell housing...u can see it from the header side. if im correct there is an extention harness that hooks into that sensor. just jack up ur car and it should be on the clutch fork side.

If the crank pos sensor was that faulty that you couldnt even get a good tach signal, your engine wouldnt run. Thats not your problem.

Yea I know where the sensore is. I finally found the sub-harness. It was under the car all the way below the EGR valve.

Duffman, you acutally gave me the answer that I am lookin for. But, when you say good, do you mean ANY signal at all?? So does this mean probably mean that I need a new gauge cluster/tach?
