Gtx3071 vs precision 55/5857 on sr20det feedback
Alrite guys sorry if there is threads about this but my search option on my phone doesnt work so had to make a thread about it. Long story short bought a gt3071 bb from a member and got fked up cuse shaft and bearings were fked up. So know gotta get a new one. Was looking into gtx3071 or precision 55/5857 turbos. Would lke to get feedback/dyno sheets ect. Looking for as close of 500 as possible with not much of a lag 4k rpm is ok. Need tp get a turbo in the next 2 days

T3/2 exh ar? Havent really seen the 3076 spooling that fast. However i read gtx3071 can spool that fast and specs say up to 600hp. Would really apreciate feedback on this turbos. Not familiar with the precision turbos(personaly dont know anybody running them or trusting them) |

well my set up is a little special, i have a full race twin scroll single waste gate manifold, the front part of my turbo is a gt3076 and the rear is a .82 twin scroll t3 housing, i bought from atp turbo, its off a gt32, but ben bored to fit a gt30r 264 cams and greedy intake manifold, i am also over bored which gains me some spool up time, 90 mm bore making it a 2.2 liter and twin scroll, so full host comes on quick

4200 is normal for a stock bore, but there is no way you will get 600 out of a gtx3071

5858 CEA all damn day. No version of the gt30 comes close. My 5858 starts boosting at 3k. 20psi around 4.5k and good for 40psi and over 600whp. I just ordered my new 6266 yesterday. Im factory bore/stroke as well.
A twinscroll 30r is mostly a waste. You can make very similar power with a factory mani and a 2871.. |

I have a 5557. 264 cams, greddy intake
Made 373whp @ 18psi on a mustang dyno. personnaly I think it's too laggy for street use. Maybe I'll put a smaller turbo someday. Crazy pull to 8000rpm tho. ![]() |

I purchased GT3071r in last November and before I did, I spoke to Garrett and ATP turbo both to consult whether I should get GTX over GT series.
Their answer was, if I am not looking to get over 500whp then it is not worth paying $300~400 extra to get GTX. Also spooling time is very minimal to notice. with my 3071r .63 I get full boost @ 3500rpm. I don't feel much lag at all. Just FYI... |

gt3076 will max out right about 550 ish at 30-33 pounds of boost, but should make around 450 at 20 where a gt2871 will make 350 at around 17-20 depending on set up, but not trying to distract with gt2871 talk, i would look into a BW turbo if i wasn't running a garret

Op, if you dont plan on cranking the wick and running 30psi+ then dont waste time with PTE or BW. They both are built for big boost. Garrett's gtx series as well shines with big boost. I also cant believe someone mentioned lag. Compared to what a t28? My 5858 is more street friendly than my 2871 was. If you want torque get a v8. |

I am just about done with my S14sr20 build and I was wondering about where my boost will hit. I have a gt3071r which uses the stock sized t2 manifold, so for now I am keeping that, but I also have it bored to 90mm and a 9.0 c/r. Sorry for the thread-jack ![]()

And nice maps but were talking 71mm compressor wheels and actual numbers produced on an sr. Correct me if im wrong idaho but did you ever even finish your build? Precision turbos outflow, spool fasterand make more power sizefor size versus garrett. This comes from someone who has used several garrett and PTE turbos. Experience doesn't come from reading that compressor map.. |

Really nice info guys. Shop is giving me 2 good options the pt5558 and the gtx3071 pricewise the 5558 is right under 1k and gtx is 1.7k just dont want regret getting the 5558 if i dont like the response. Car will be tune at 20-24 psi and 12 -15 for dd if i have to. On 93 pump gas. Ive been searching tday and look gtx will spool 300rpm earlier than the regular gt but both are prety much identical after that.
When choosing turbine housing wich one will u guys recommend t3 twin scroll .78 or single scroll .64? Like i said want to hit around 475hp with good response |

No less than 475hp. Will have to upgrade injectors later. Rather have room to grow than a maxed out turbo. 525-550 will be the most i might want from it
