LSx Drift's LS S15 Conversion - FULL BUILD

Hi all, been a while in the making and getting the time to sit down and do a blog of the build process for our new drift car....after many late nights, early mornings and even longer days we finished it off.
Sit back and take a look at the project and love to hear your thoughts!!

R32 Half Shafts

Suspension:
K-Sport coilovers
Driftworks catalogue for everything else

Brakes:
370Z Fronts
Dual Caliper GTR rear setup

Pedal Box twin master cylinder

Interior:

Custom center console facia
ARK Design Digital Dash
Momo Drifting Steering Wheel

Exterior:
ARK design Wheels 18x9.5
Origin Body Kit

What we started with:

After a morning of rip tear and bust car is back to a shell!

Advantage of having overhead cranes at work

Rotisserie time and bath to clean off all the Japanese dirt/fungus

Time to start with the wire brush....and many a metal splinter

Followed by lots of welding and burns

Bit of etch primer to seal the surface because it was time for a holiday and come back to it in a month......

Time for tubs...

Fresh coat of jam on the roof

Top of roll cage started and dropped through the floor to weld....after I had finished the cage I actually had to redo the top bars for some more head room!!!

Lifted back up and started rear bar work

After the cage was finished it was time to give the underside some love

Finally the start of the end, the point where you can see all the hard work coming together!

Rear parcel shelf dealt with in case of fuel cell - Didnt just want the usual piece of floppy tinwork

Exterior goodness

Suspension time-Entire driftworks catalogue nearly..

All the bolt on goodies painted and ready for assembly

Coming off the rotisserie after a couple of long months

Test fit of the kit, can just make out the light at the end of the tunnel

Steering mod for the LS1 conversion

Shipment of goodies from the states....air freight can get costly!!

Engine rebuild time

The all important sump....BUILT FOR DRIFT

First run of the engine fitment

Required notch for fitment of headers to starter motor and steering shaft

Gearbox ready for fitment

Engine and Box combo

Looked like a good way to install it

Even better way

Tailshaft and mufflers in

New dash and fuse cluster

New MFD screen for engine vitals

Shifter location.....perfect

Seats

Interior complete

Pedal Box Assembly

Rear end complete and installed

370Z brakes setup-355mm

Engine bay finished

Pedal Box Setup

Finally finished and extremely happy with how it turned out

Here is a video link of the car, not a heap of footage available for us as its only made the one event(ADGP)....plenty more to come in the near future!

Do Aussies just hate Japanese people? You keep calling them Japs and then you state "clean off all the Japanese dirt/scum".

See, my grandfather called the Japanese 'japs' in a derogatory fashion because he hated their country after serving in WW2.

I keep hearing Aussies call them 'japs' and it just reminds me of that older racial epithet.

Either way, the car looks really nice. Very simple, very reliable. You'll get a bunch of hate though for the LSX swap. Meh, just the nature of Zilvia.

I like the detail of work that went into your build (especially the cage).

I'm still not on the LSx side of the fence...

Sorry about the "JAP" remark, not meant to offend anyone, just Aussie slang.

The shifter is a B&M 04 GTO one I think in the end, had an MGW and that went in the bin without even moving the car because it was causing grinding in the box. Even did a G/Box swap at 3 in the morning and had the same issue. B&M went in at 8.30 that morning and fixed all dramas......GRRR to have that time back.

LSx originally covered the whole LS family, but yes GM Performance also calls it there LS version of the cast iron 454. And yes i do have one sitting here....too use or not too use....maybe for one weekend

The rear bumper is an Origin Streamline but filled the rear number plate hole, bit more strength and something different.

Thanks all for the comments, really appreciate it!

Don't be. There are several companies in the UK that have "Jap" in their name. (Japspeed is all I can think of off the top of my head). The fact that he thought that says more about him than you.
