bosch 044 noise reduction
so for my build i originally intended to try to fit dual 044 intank, but it seems like to tight of a squeeze and also i may run into cavitation issues due to saddle bag fuel tank design.
my next option is to run a surge tank and mount the (2) 044 in my trunk. i dont mind doing it this way, but i would like come comfort with my car as i plan to drive for hrs at a time. The last thing i want to hear is the buzzing for the dual 044 in my ears. anyone know how to quiet the 044 down, like if i mounted it into a box wit sound deading material. but then i would have to worry about heading up the fuel pumps. any suggestions welcome. also if any one has a vid clip of how loud (2) external in the trunk are it would be appreciated.

Not sure about your exhaust setup, But i would assume that would hide alot of the sound your pumps will make. Have you considered running two of the AEM 300LPH pumps? they are about walbro sized and can work on E85. Might be a decent idea. Or can you run a 1 044 intank all the time, and have the second one turn on once boost starts coming on? That would depend on the ECU if you can have it set to trigger.

^holy balls thats loud -_-
since i bought the dual 044 i want to use them and i like the fact that its not a over driven small pump that drops pressure when it heats up. i just need to find a way to get them to work intank. mvp/powerhouse racing has a billet hat, which isnt bad but you need some type of venturi system crap to equalize the fuel tank level due to it being a saddle bag design. so i think my best bet is to use the stock plastic hat and make a hole and run a -8 bulk head and leave the dual 044 intank. i just want to make sure they both feed equally in from the tank, and also the stock venturi system wont be over flown due to the -6 return line. soo much factors when building a car -_- the easy solution is a surge tank setup but the damm NOISE!

I'm pretty damn sure that you don't need 2 044 fuel pumps, just to start. Since you've already spent the money why not mount one in-tank and the other under the car, rather than inside the cabin? The fuel lines run under the car anyways so mounting it inside the cabin would be a PITA...

they ARE loud, and i mean it. I could hear my friends setup over its 4" Ti exhaust, and he kept the back seats. It is not just loud, the noise is terrible as well. Worst thing ever heard in a car, even an open header SR20 sounds better (and boy do they sound like crap)
I would not do external setups unless i really have to... and if i had, i'd use a swirl tank. Dual 044 without a swirl tank is a big mistake imho. |

#1 you can turn one pump off when the engine is below any psi you want. there are many options for doing this. a hobbs switch is the quick way.
#2 You can support about 600RWHP on twin in-tank walbros using pump gas. And three walbro pumps in a supra will support about 800RWHP (2jzgte @ 28psi) while using ETHANOL. |

Im shooting for 500 pump and high 600 e85. I rather have more fuel then less. I have an aem v2 so i think i can control one pump to come on after 15psi. I need to look into it more. Thanks for the info.
Im leaning towards an enclouser to help quiet it down. I think the surge to dual 044 is the way to go. Im going to try to insulate all the metal parts to keep vibration moise down.

i understand being safe, but mid 600's should be within the relm of a single 044. I'd certainly be running a true intank one, or a surge tank with an inline 044 though, vs two intanks.

I know on the sloppy mechanics cars, a single 044 has gotten the cars into the low-mid 600's without issue (turbo LSX stuff).. .of course to get over 675/700 a proflow 750 was next in line. Don't get me wrong it was probably on the edge of what it could do, but it was still possible.

yea I think mounting one inside the tank would be best. then one outside. it would keep things cleaner too since space is pretty limited in the trunk of a s14.

I can easily hear my 044 intank, but 2 of them inside the car/trunk, i'll became nuts.
Have you considered to put them near the tank, under the car? at the right side (opposite of the exhaust) |

A lot of my drag racing friends, mostly Hondas, run an in-tank 255 and a Bosch 044 that they turn on before each run. Those cars are all making over 700 WHP and running low to mid 9's.
