Roll cage Options

I am about to get the Auto Power roll cage and I am wondering who all makes roll cages for 240sx's? I have done a year of reserch and I know Cusco and East Bear make them, but I dont know where to buy them or how much they cost. Are the any other's ?

i got an autopower 6 point bolt in cage. If i were to do it over, i would DEFINITELY!!!! get a custom cage. What i would do is go to a raceshop and have them build me an 8 or 10 point cage with certification for track use. Even though i will probably only drift my car and not road race it i would want the mounting points to be somewhere better than the fuckin floorboard. Ya know?

autopower's should be out soon. search on Freshalloy about it. Chris from speedalliance testfitted the prototype and said it should be out soon.

I THINK the safety 21 cages will fit but not 100% sure

I have a 4pt autopower. Fitment is good. I'm happy with it. Cusco/Safety wont fit a USDM S13 w/o stripping out the interior panels. Autopower is supposed to be SCCA legal, I can't remember for sure right off the bat, but I know Cusco/Safety wasn't when I bought my rollbar.

Oh, the black paint that comes on the rollbar... crap. Might just wanna buy silver and have it coated.

I would go with a Cusco if its a daily driver. They do clear all the interior pieces its just a tight fit. Out of all the cages i have ever had (border, Auto power, custom, cusco) I would reccomend the cusco. It is cheap, light, and doesnt get in the way. If you have the money though get a custom one. (not a universal custom one tho.)

cusco isn't certified tho... the description says "chassis stiffening" not roll over"
DG trials is having a group buy on autopower roll bars and cages.

a quick question, if one were to have a custom one built, how would one go about getting a 6 point and still keep the factory door panels, while not having it go above the driver's head?? (street legality and safety)

auopower is only legal for stock showroom class (gay) racing. In reality it's just as good as the cusco but it's heavier. It's all about the way you mount it. If you mount it to your floorboard like normal it may not be legal in the class you want to race in . Just be careful before you spend money on it.

Do know know much about rollcages, but can one be made to be legit and not prohibit someone from sitting in your rear seats?

I know a car with 4-5 passengers and a roll cage sounds wierd, but I just wanted to know because I do not know.

autopower has options where you can can unbolt the cross sections, which makes the bar a lot less sturdy and takes way most of the chassis stiffening effect.
And I would hate to put someone in the back seat with all that steel tubing... if you had an accident they could gank their head off it.

the removeable braces do not make the chassis significantly stiffer -- the bar itself makes the chassis stiff. i've never noticed a difference with the cross and mid bars on, i simply use the mid bar because i wanted something to loop my harnesses over.

as for roll bars and roll cages, you should basically kiss your rear seats goodbye if you go this route. i did.. and i have no problems NOT driving people around. its called being selfish

no, I meant that having clevices instead of welds just makes the whole bar less rigid than if it was welded.

again, i dont think it makes much of a difference. i've cut the entire body of a 240sx in half, if you are worrying about the bolt-on or removeable parts of a rollbar/cage.. you should look at the chassis and realize that there really isnt much "solidity" to any part of the chassis except for the front cross member and rear sub-frame. everything else on the car is crap sheet metal.
