jeopardy:: tech challenge

#1 i noticed only today that during small incidents of spirited throttle, i get the distinctive smell of fuel coming thru the air vents. possible explanations would help.

#2 im trying to get a re-build kit for my ps pump since its leaking along the block and not the hoses .

#3 wiring help on hooking up fal 220 dual fans to work with thermostat and ac relay. since my clutch fan has cracks in it like its about to separate soon .

#4 i've get a very big vibration whenever the rear end starts to get wheel spin. its not just a slight vibration, because the whole chassis shakes violently, when turning left or right when i put the power down. it feels as if the entire rear end is skipping from tire to tire.

#5 i got erratic check light. i dont know whether its the O2 sensor or wut . gonna use diagnostic to find out which code im throwing.

thanx in advance guys.

OBDI or OBDII? If you have an S13 or an OBDI S14 the 02 sensor will NOT trip you MIL(Malfuction indicator lamp) ,I know this seeing as my 02 sensor has been disconnected for about a month now on my OBDI S13

Actually what do you have ? Hicas S13? Non-Hicas S13? Fastback? Coupe? Dare I say...'vert? S14?...etc

#4 could be a few things. The bad wheel hop is likely caused by worn out shocks or shot rear subframe bushings. Throw a set of subframe spacers in there and some sort of spring/shock combo (or even a set of coilovers) and that nasty wheel hop will vanish.

#5 s13's sometimes get the intermittent MIL that could be caused by the egr system.IIRC that's code 32. The Snap-On scanner says it could throw false codes for this from time to time. My car does the same thing and throws an egr code, but the system is working properly.

#2, try NAPA or something, otherwise just get a new one from any auto parts place or a junk yard.

#3 the stock ac fan is set to come on if the coolant goes about 212F or you turn the ac on. you could just rewire the connector if that sounds good to you. the coolant temp sensor isn't adjustable so if you wan't adjustability, you'll need an adjustable thermostat. my ac doesn't work so i'm just going to pull the belt off and hit the ac button when i need the fan. the stocker doesn't pull much air but upgrading changes your class in autoX. maybe i can get away with a stock maxima fan or something.

the pumps are the same but the bracketry is different. just keep the SR brackets and swap in a KA pump or use a KA rebuild kit, it should work.

OFF TOPIC...
starter problem? ignition switch problem or idle problem?? Worst possible scenario...short in the ground wire between engine block & firewall.

[QUOTE=sideviewcivic]#1 i noticed only today that during small incidents of spirited throttle, i get the distinctive smell of fuel coming thru the air vents. possible explanations would help.

Leaky fuel injectors OR loose clamp on fuel filter...CHECK BOTH IMMEDIATELY!!!....that is if you want to keep your S13 & DON"T want to watch it go up in flames!!!

#3 wiring help on hooking up fal 220 dual fans to work with thermostat and ac relay. since my clutch fan has cracks in it like its about to separate soon .

Replace the plastic portion of the fan...4 bolt holding it in. Worse case scenario you have to remove the radiator fan shroud to get the plastic fan off. Post on the group & see if anyone has a spare fan clutch with the plastic fan on it lying around. I'm sure someone does.

#4 i've get a very big vibration whenever the rear end starts to get wheel spin. the whole chassis shakes violently, when turning left or right when i put the power down. it feels as if the entire rear end is skipping from tire to tire.

Bad shocks or rear subframe bushings. Get subframe spacers from Specialty Z...Gregg Dupree.
http://www.specialtyz.com/subspacers.htm

#5 i got erratic check light. i dont know whether its the O2 sensor or wut . gonna use diagnostic to find out which code im throwing.

Check O2 sensor by putting it into diagnostic mode...see www.240sx.org . Click on FAQ button. Rev engine about 2-3k rpm for a minute or two while in 02 Sensor check mode...ECU light should flash 10 times or more in 10 seconds. If the 02 sensor checks out okay, then it could be a dirty airfilter, bad Engine coolant temp sensor, dirty throttlebody/AIV valve or clogged EGR valve.
Soooo many things to troubleshoot....Just out of curiousity, when was the last time you had a tune up / swapped out the distributor cap & rotor / checked your spark plug wires / checked the idle & timing??
Anyhow, hope this helps...
