Private Drifting Event at Buttonwillow - Eastloop (MAY 20th, 2004)

Subject: May 20th at ButtonWillow –East Loop

Signups for running the East Loop at Button Willow are open.

It will be limited to 15 drivers, signups are on a first come first serve basis.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Please contact [email protected] to register. Include your full name, contact information, emergency contact information, car make, model, and color.

Payment can be made through paypal. If payments are made through paypal it will be $125 with the online fee processing.
Payment is $120 if paid in cash to Al or Erik.

Please contact [email protected] for any questions regarding payment or additional information.

Other information:

Track gates open at 7am. Drivers meeting will be held at 8AM, attendance to the drivers meeting is MANDATORY. If you miss the meeting we cannot let you run until you’ve been briefed.

First session starts at 8:30am.

Rules off track:

Paddock speeds are 5mph. Strictly enforced.

SA 95 or M95 Helmets or newer. If you have extra helmets bring them along for passengers or as a loaner. We cannot rent helmets from Button Willow for this event.

Cars will be subject to tech inspection before going out on track, but it will be the responsibility of the driver to have their vehicle ready. This means that there is nothing loose inside the car when you drive. Floor mats, items in the glove box, center console, and loose change...take out everything. You will not be allowed on track otherwise.

Secure items in the engine bay such as the battery, oil catch can, gerbils for you rotary owners, and anything else that could possibly fall off the car. Or our favorite...could move and melt on your exhaust manifold and have something STUPID like your wiring harness burn up.

No drugs or alcohol will be tolerated at the track. You will be sent home.

The hot pits will be open, so no standing on the pit walls. You can view the track better from the officiating building anyway. Both the viewing stand and hot pit will be pointed out during the drivers meeting.

Spectators are welcome but must stand in designated areas. If you want to have pictures taken from the track email Al or Erik before the event.

You are solely responsible for any damages or loss too your equipment while at the track. Realize that if you have car contact or crash because of "someone else", you are still ultimately responsible for any damages to your equipment.

Rules ON TRACK:

Helmets must be worn at ALL TIMES while on the track. This includes passengers.

DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE WHILE ON TRACK. Unless your car is on fire, you are safer staying inside the vehicle until instructed otherwise. EVEN IF IT IS UPSIDE DOWN.

Windows must be down before entering the track. Sunroofs closed, or T-Tops removed.

If you have 2 or more wheels go off track you must come into the hot pit to have your car checked. If you break this rule you will be black flagged off the track.

We will have corner workers on some corners, pay attention to the signals they may give out. Corner workers must be obeyed. When you are out on track they are the ONLY authority out there. The corner worker flags will be covered in the drivers meeting.

Car contact is not allowed. This is not a race.

When pulling into the hot pit, signal the cars behind you with a raised fist out the window that you are pulling into the pits.

Other than driver hand signals, do not stick anything out of the windows. This includes passengers.

Passing Rules:

Passing on the left is preferred. No passing in corners.

The person being passed MUST give a point by signal before being passed. Use your hand to point to the car behind you which side you wish to be passed on. If you wish to be passed on the right, point your hand OVER the roof of your car to the right hand side.

If a car will not let you pass, pull into the hot pits and wait for a break in traffic to continue driving. Do not get impatient.

[b/]Other Miscellaneous Information:[/b]

Drivers will rotate hourly to the corner worker positions. The schedule will be posted once signups are completed. There will be two drivers at each station.

Spot cancellation has to be two weeks before the event.
If anything after two weeks then you can still get a refund if someone else can take your place from the waiting list. If there’s any.

It is always helpful to bring along extra parts for your car, tools, oil, and especially tires. Bring food and water, the café is usually closed.

Closed toe shoes are required for drivers.

BBQ’s and tents are allowed and are an easy way to make friends.

This will be the track configuration.

Please contact [email protected] for any questions regarding payment or additional information.

I think we could get 40 people if it was on sunday ...that would offset the cost( a little)

And i dont think 40 people is too many for buttonwillow. There was PLENTY of seat time, maybe too much last time i went. There were like 20+ cars and people spent hours just sitting around.

You guys still dont get it do you...

Here are the REAL problems with weekends.

1. If theres any avail. Some of big boys reserved track days a year before. I don't have that kind of money.

2. Let say 2200 for the weekend. That is not it. You'll still need to buy Insurance. Insurance is around 1800.

3. When you have 20 more people you will need an Ambulance. The Ambulance is $90 bucks an hour.

4. Its cost more than you think. If you guys are interested then set it up.

5. Im not into HELLA cars at the track and run groups. I do Weekdays cause its small, cheap and people actually get some REAL track time. I can't even think of flaggers... $$$$

STOP ASKING ME! I will do it one of these days. Its a pain thinking and trying to promote track days with a little over 40 People.

nobody asked you to do it. Just clean the sand out of your vagina and tell us the realistic costs.

so far we got

2200 for the track
1800 for insurance
90 bucks an hour x 9 hours =810 bucks
we'll flag ourselves like a buncha savages

2200+1800+810=4810

4810 dollars/40 people = 120 dollars per person.

I understand you'd have to do a lot more planning and set up a big down payment, but again i didnt ask you to do it. I was just curious about the costs....anything else i'm missing grumpy?

No events on the weekends? There are plenty of events on the weekends...

Sign up for the 23rd at Streets of Willow with me. $120 bucks, Sunday. Streets...Or goto Willow Springs to run the big track on the 31st of May. Thats supposed to be a small event too. $140 bucks

Laguna Seca running 4-5-6-7 of June for $300-$350/ea day...Doesn't get cheaper for the amount of seat time you would get on Seca.

i didnt say there were no events. i asked how much it would cost to have a private event at buttonwillow with 40 people. balmo sorry i didnt see the link earlier. They charge 400 bucks for the skidpad? if i lived any closer to buttonwillow i'd rent the skidpad for a day and have a mini event with cones. Ok so with 40 people we'd definitely need the skidpad open. 4810+400=5210/40=130 bucks per person plus 10 dollar gate fee per person? = 140 bucks per person. i guess this is a more realistic number than 120.

I was bitchy yesterday since I didnt get any sleep.

I don't even want to get into the realistic # for weekend events. Cost so much damn money.

Plus, I like it small since I don't have to deal with dolts all day long.

monday and friday is part of the weekend last I checked....

Streets does not allow drifting. To be perfectly honest with you there is only one decent track to practice drifting on and that is ButtonWillow. Thunderhill doesn't have enough small tight turns, Seca is too expensive, Streets is a no go, Willow Springs is a no go, Sears Point is too expensive AND has tons of concrete walls....There are not very many good places to drift besides a parking lot.

Horse Thief mile would be good but I don't know if Willows let you drift on that course. I'm going to ask when I'm down there later next week.

If you really wanted to get an event together, why not ask the San Mateo County fairgrounds. You live near them sorta. They have a HUGE parking lot in the back. They host HIN in august iirc.

HIN was last month too.

Monday and Friday arent a part of the weekend, and neither is Saturday for me! at least until we get another tech in here. My weekend consists of Sunday and...that's it. And since streets does not allow drifting that craps on that. Anywizzle. talk to you guys later. i'm leaving this post now.
