If you drop the clutch and the car accelerates, the clutch is OK... if you drop the clutch and it just spins a bit, and you don't move, clutch is toast. Anywhere in between and it's your call. I'm not sure I really get the point of this...

How long have you been driving on it? Have you been dropping the clutch or driving hard on it?

if its not slipping or giving you any problems, you dont need to worry about it. but do you know how old it is? how long you have been driving on it? clutch kicks, brand of clutch?

there's the uphill test....

or just drive till it almost really dies, you'll know it when this happens:
you drive normally, but the car forces you to upshift much sooner than you normally do, like 5th gear going 30mph, then you know you only have a short time to change your clutch

my car makes a squealing noise sometimes when i first start it or putting it in first.. throw out bearing? very rare that it happens tho, but if i burnout or something stupid, then the very next time i start it, that noise happens.

Real Simple steps to knowing your clutch is going

4th gear has the highest mid to high rotation of the gears

-Put your car into 4th gear, and give it some gas, if you see a bouncing around of the rpms or a hesitant from moving from the lower rps to the higher one, then yes, your clutch is slipping.

= The TOB could be making noise, meaning its either siezed up, or its just worn. Always replace the TOB and pilot bearings when you do a clutch jub, just something thats much easier to do then.

-Grinding a gear is in the gearbox not the clutch

well thats the problem not too sure what clutch it is and wen the last owner changed it. from what i heard tho its a stage clutch. ive been driving with this clutch for about 9 months. ive clutch kicked and burnt out a couple times but not on an everyday basis. too me sometimes it feels as if the clutch pedal has gotten higher until i kno the clutch has grabbed. any ideas. i want to change it but again dont want to bother if i find out after taking off the bell housing that the disc is has a lot of life. thanks

Well most likely, it sounds like you coming to the end of the clutch life. Does it have a tendancy to want to stay keep moving when you press the clutch pedal?
Best bet would be to have it changed out before it totally fails on you, cause once its goes there won't be getting the car back on its own, you'll have to get you a tow truck...TRUST ME CAUSE I KNOW FIRST HAND,lol

Are you SR or KA? Either way, I'd suggest the RPS street 6puck clutch. I just installed one on my SR, and also have two other friends running them on a KA and another SR. Feels great. Much better than the SPEC stage 4 and the Exedy stage 2 that I had.

Sounds like TO. Is it hard to get it into first?

I have heard many of people say it is the throwout bearing, but personal experiance shows that 80% of the time its the piolt bushin expecially if its a auto to 5speed sway and the pilot bushing was never changed.

the grammar and spelling in this thread makes me thankful for school! You should probably provide some replies to what has been said before searching for anymore answers
