**DISCLAIMER: I am going to be extremely thorough with this for sale post. While it may not be to my benefit, I’m the type of person that likes a buyer to be aware of everything going on with the car or item I am selling. I did a lot of research into this car’s history to learn things that were not disclosed to me when I purchased it and I don’t want the buyer to have any surprises like I did. The previous owner was a good guy, I just want to offer full disclosure to the next owner.**

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Currently has 97,5XX and climbing as it is my daily driver.


The Good:

• Brembo calipers have been refinished (no fading or peeling)
• Idle Air Control Valve replaced in January with OEM unit
• 60k mile service completed at 56k miles (timing belt etc.)
• Trans/T-case/Diff fluid changed at 88k miles (Redline/Diaqueen)
• HVAC gears/cable recall fixed (components replaced)
• Turbo/exhaust manifold/valve cover gaskets replaced around 79k miles
• Sunroof issue corrected (screws vibrate out over time)
• Conservative setup, babied & primarily highway miles
• Transmission shifts smooth, no grinds
• Complete OEM Evo 9 front bumper
• Spotless non-smoker interior
• Minimal dents throughout car with great paint
• Front wheel bearings replaced 3/9/2014
• Front fender liners and front lip recently replaced (hit an ice chunk on the freeway)
• Battery replaced 3/2013


The Bad:

• Standard rust forming under rear spoiler (driver’s side, very light)
• Clear coat peeling on portions of carbon fiber on rear spoiler
• Idle occasionally dips when coasting with clutch in (tune?)
• Sometimes requires gas to be pressed while starting in very cold temps, but always manages to start and idle without issue. Think below 25 degrees. (tune/injector scaling?)
• Driver’s side rear sidemarker doesn’t work (needs pigtail, damaged by snow)
• Chip in windshield on passenger side edge (has not started to crack all winter, happened August 2013)
• Rock chips in certain areas from highway driving (lower/fender areas)
• Plug in the trunk lid- this car originally came with the optional low spoiler, so there is a cap in the trunk to cover a hole from this. This was there when I bought the car. There was no third brake light as a result, so I installed one for safety reasons.
• I only have one key for the car. The keyless entry fob has a crack in the case and has never worked during my ownership of the car- maybe it just needs a battery?
• No trunk panels/carpeting as they were cut for a rear strut brace that was removed.

Here are some photos of how the car sits today. It’s been tough to get it cleaned up with the weather we have been having, but I’d be happy to take more photos upon request. I'll try to take and post some more detailed shots of the under side and any exterior blemishes this week.
























I purchased this car in November of 2012 with exactly 69k miles on the odometer. I am the third owner and the second owner barely drove the car. But first I’ll talk about my time with the car. I used the car as my daily driver from the time I bought it until present day. I did modify the car’s exterior and suspension, but I did not alter the engine aside from changing bolt-ons out for ones I liked better than what came with it. I had the car street tuned with the listed modifications (as well as a larger intercooler that has since been sold) at a modest 20-22 PSI on the factory Evo 8 turbocharger. The Exedy twin disc clutch had less than 500 miles on a rebuild when I bought the car.

Essentially, the car was driven to and from the office (about 70 highway miles per day) and that’s where the miles came from while I owned it. It was never launched, tracked, autocrossed, or taken to the drag strip when I owned it. Like anyone, I would occasionally do a pull getting on the freeway after work and whatnot, but I am a fairly slow driver in the scheme of things.

Second Owner
The gentlemen I bought the car from drove it for less than 1,000 miles. After doing some research shortly after buying the car, I found that the original engine that was in the car had been replaced. Here’s what the second owner had to say about it:

“Here's the scoop. I should have mentioned to you about the engine, now that that has literally been brought to my attention I feel like a dick - I would have wanted to know if I was in your shoes. Here is the good news - I'm anal, just like you. I like things crispy, over-maintained and love the peace of mind behind a mostly factory stock car. The reason I didn't mention it was that I just didn't think about it - there is no mileage discrepancy between your engine and chassis. NONE.

When I decided to switch the motors I drove the cars so that the mileage was nearly the same and dropped the white one off at a close friend's shop who has worked on both of the cars. The shop is only 2 miles from my house, so when your red evo was about 10 miles away from the mileage on the white one I drove away from my house for about 3.5 miles, turned around then drove past my house and straight to the shop. When I got there I was within two tenths, so I did some circles in the parking lot and pulled the car in with the EXACT same mileage, down to the tenth. Once I did this, the discrepancy wasn't anything I ever thought about and when I sold the vehicle, the fact that the engine was changed didn't even occur to me. That is not an excuse, just an explanation - it is something I should have mentioned and I apologize for not thinking about it.
The car is equipped with GSC S1 cams which are the best mild cam out.

And rest assured, the timing belt, water pump, ARP headstuds, tensioner, accessory belts, etc etc etc have all recently been done. I believe the factory calls for it at 60k and I did it at 56-57k which would make you good until 115k.”

The previous owner was a good guy and owned another Evo in addition to mine, so I trust his word on the car’s history. He also owns his own detailing business, so it has been kept in great condition.

As it turns out, he bought this Evo with an AMS 2.3 stroker motor in it and had that engine swapped with the one in his current Evo, then sold this car as close to stock as possible. I’m sure he got a good deal on the car and it only made sense for him to take the expensive AMS engine out and replace it with his closer to stock one.

Original Owner
In my research, I also spoke with the car’s original owner. He purchased the car new and eventually sold it to buy an R35 GTR. Here’s what he had to say about the car’s background:

“i bought the car in Tulsa oklahoma from don carlton mistsubishi, in 3/2005. it was a brand new and unregistered 2003, with 60-70 miles on the clock, just sat and was never bought. it had the shorty wing and a sunroof. ill post some pics of when it was brand new at the dealer. I also still have its original window sticker, and id be happy to mail it to you if you are interested.

first the car got bolt on mods, namely TBE exhaust, BR intake, GSC cams), and was tuned using a mail in tune by that al friedman guy, dynoflash i think it was called. there after i added a FP green turbo to it, and larger injectors and a walbro twin in tank pump

drove it like that got some bronze ce28n, had a blast in it, added some more bolt ons, cant remember what really, and then upgraded to a FP RED turbocharger, again on stock bottom end, around this time, i added a exedy twin HD clutch. from oklahoma, the car spend alot of time in indiana, and missouri. was in missouri for 3 years, and in indiana for 1-2 years, and then obviously in illinois, and now with you in michigan!

while on the FP red, i converted the car to E85, if i remember correctly it made 450 awhp and 415 awtq on 30 psi. at about i want to say 50,000 miles i broke a connecting rod.

pulled that motor and sent the car to AMS performance, that put in a brand new AMS 2.3 liter stroker motor with oliver rods, and upgraded to a FP black, and car tuned put down 577 AWHP and 547 AWTQ @ 35 psi.

i maintained it meticulously, i corrected the paint once a year, kept it clayed all the time, pressure washed the undercarriage all the time, on yes, and i also had KW V3 street spec tuned by ROBISPEC on the car. i had volks powdercoated mercury silver, i had my brembos powdercoated, and i added giro disc 2 piece rotors, stainless lines, the hats on the girodiscs were red, and had my name etched on them. I sold the car with those mods, and looks like all that stuff was stripped and removed from the car. i added the AMS down pipe and resonated test pipe shortly before selling it, the megan catback is from 2005, and car was still on stock transfer case and transmission

i never launched the car. not once believe it or not. thats probably the only 2003 that was never launched, atleast while i had it, it never had been.”

Accident Reported

There is one accident reported on the car’s CarFax. I am not sure if it is from the original owner or the second owner, but the car was hit in a parking lot. The rear bumper was replaced as well as the front bumper and intercooler. There is no other damage to the car and none of this damage is evident anywhere on the car. I couldn’t tell, but the previous owner disclosed this to me when I bought the car.

I have photos that the previous owner posted in his original for sale thread detailing the incident that show that it was a very light hit. See below next post for photos from the "accident."

My asking price for the car is $16,900 OBO. I am not able to accept any trades. Don’t let the mileage or the car’s past scare you- this Evo has been VERY well cared for by three (essentially two really) responsible adult owners and is awesome condition. Here are photos taken by the ORIGINAL owner of the "accidnet" that is reported on the Car Fax. The car was hit in a parking lot and the only damaged items were the tail light, rear bumper, front bumper, and stock intercooler. There was no frame or structural damage as this was a very low speed incident.















Hopefully this clears up any questions or concerns around that. Those photos were shared with me by the previous owner when I purchased the car.

Quick update- the car is now equipped with standard OEM Evo VIII HID headlights instead of the Evo Dave modified lights previously shown in photos.
