![]() My 91 died on me while I was driving it yesterday.
Showed no signs of a fuel issue before hand. I was just driving and noticed it didn't respond when I gave it a bit of gas then shortly after like seconds after, it died. Got it on the side of the road and was trying to see what happened. Tried to start it and it would start but idle really rough and try to die then I would give it some gas and it would respond by dying. I did notice that I can't hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the car to the on position. Already replaced the relay. Didn't do anything for it. So yeah any ideas? |

Leaky Injector

use a fuel pressure tester to check your fuel pressure. That should tell you if its your fuel system.
Check your spark plugs too. white and ashy is running lean (usually fuel system problem) and black and gassy smelling plugs mean its running rich (maybe not getting spark? or too much fuel pressure) id say start with those man. You can rent a fuel pressure tester from Autozone. they sell it to you for whatever price, and you return it for a full refund (if you want...its paid for, so if you like it you can keep it!) what kind of engine do you have? KA or SR? if its an SR and your running the stock s13 pump id recommend a Walbro 255lph HP to keep up. If you run your car less than a quarter tank a lot then it can cause early failure on your pump. you can use a screwdriver to check the injectors too. make sure none are leaking, and the screwdriver vibrates with the injector clicking (firing). if you cant feel it firing through the screwdriver that could be bad. check some of these things and post reply. also give us some info on what kind of motor, injectors, and other relevant specs. search around the forums for other threads with similar problems as well. that always helps. best of luck brother |

Hey thanks for the reply. I went ahead and changed my fuel filter and after a little coaxing it started up and hasn't seemed to be struggling anymore. I went and got some as from a really bad part of town in search if some cheaper stuff and I think I got a bad batch of gas or something. Clogged my filter.
