![]() Hello All. I have just purchased my first 240. It's a white 93 Coupe 5 Speed w/ the KA24DE. It runs great, has ice cold air, and only needs a new rear diff. No big deal by any means. I am not new to perfomance cars as I have owned a highly modifed Conquest TSI, and currently own an 04 WRX and an incredibly modifed EVO VIII(over 400 AWHP on 93). I am looking to sell the EVO and move on to the 240 for a while. It just seems like a fun platform to mess w/. I know that I won't get the same kind of crazy power, but it should be a fun trip. I'm looking forward to meeting some good folks on here and getting this project under way. First things first, the suspension under there is huge! WTF? There's no way bigger tires will fit under there, right? I've done some searcing around here, and it looks like you have to go to a coilover setup to get a 7.5 or 8.0 tire, right? I've been running the TEIN Flex w/ EDFC in my EVO and love it. Same results w/ the S-13's? Also what are the options for turbo kits. Of course I've tossed the idea of doing the swap, but still very undecided. Suspension and Wheels are the first on the list though. This thing feels like a school bus in the corners. Any feedback would rock.
Thanks, Jeremy |

Welcome!
Coilovers reduce wheel/tire clearance...but even with them...you can fit 17X9 and 17X10 fairly easily. And the S13 Tein Flex setup is a little soft for sticky tires, IMO. The handling in stock form is pretty damn good, but compared to an EVO VIII, it's shit. Read up, learn what you can, come back with educated questions and we'll all be nice. Ask to be spoonfed, and you'll suffer the wrath... - Brian |

ok you should push closer to 550whp on an sr with that much boost.. it's a great platform to start modifying on. Since you go pretty far with your mods, you should have a lot of fun with the 240. congrats

Welcome, glad to see a true car lover, and good tuner on the boards, and doing positive things to a 240sx. There is no real 'turbo kit' available that I am aware of for the S13 KA24DE engine;howsumever with your knowledge (at least, from the looks of your knowledge) putting together a turbo kit should not be too hard. I think with the levels of performance you are demanding, you should go with a swapped engine. The SR20DET has amazing potential, but you might be more satisfied with a hybrid swap. I would reccomend looking into the RB25,and RB26 swap. Either way, congratulations on the purchase, and best of luck with your tuning endeavors.

Welcome to Zilvia. Make sure you read the rules carefully, and never forget that the search button is your best friend. I'm not going to make any assumptions about your car knowledge based on your listed vehicles because I know people with gobs of horsepower that don't know jack about cars in general, and I know others with more vehicular know-how then any three people, who drive slow P.O.S. cars.
Again, welcome and enjoy. -Barry

Thanks guys. I cant' wait to get started on the 240. I would love to get somthing bigger than the 2.0 in the car for the torque alone, but the sr20 seems like such an easy job. from what i've read on here the hybrid swaps are very intense. if the results would be that much greater, maybe. But, I know from past experience w/ rwd, that you can have too much power if it's a street car, which this will be. I'm currently looking for someone in the St.Louis, MO area that's got some wrench time w/ the different nissan platforms. i've been doing nothing but subaru and mitsu projects for a while now. as far as the search thing goes, i've got more than enough forum time over the past years, and know how to search. i was simply introducing myself and stating my main concerns w/ this new project. i do however, totally understand. i've seen it myself. here's a link to my EVO 4-Sale....

Welcome aboard! I hope zilvia will be your place to hang out
![]() Props on the evo! Working on a 240 is much2 easier.. you shouldnt run into any problems. What will you use the car for? street only? autoX? Drag? If you're into crazy high HP, I agree with the posts above.. go hybrid.. RB25 or RB26... But you can just turbo the KA and see if you can make more than 600HP (cuz nobody has done that before). Im pretty sure after hanging out a while in 240 community, you'll have a made up decision on which motor you want to go. Have fun and Good luck with the new project!

A nice Red-top SR with a GT28R or S15 T28 hairdryer,FMIC,aftermarket exhaust/downpipe , SAFC or something of the like would suit you for nice boosting....but if you want torque you should either stick with the KA,or swap a hybrid. As much work as you have gotten under your belt, the hybrid swap should not be that big of a deal to you. Depending on how much HP/TQ you wish to run,the KA might really be a great option. Its torquey low-end and mid-range is great for day-to-day traffic (Believe me! My first car was a hybrid SBC built by yours truly, and then a swapped 5.0 T-bird,Torque is nice.) If you put a properly sized turbocharger on the KA,you will proble loose some of the lower end of the TQ but have mad crazy mid-range and decent top-end. Boosted mid-range on a KA is really a nice way to go. Search for Aceinholes (IIRC,did I spell that right?) Posts about KA-Ts and search around. They can make very good power,it just all depends on what you want.
Cliff Notes: If you want swapped torque, get an RB series engine. If you don't want a hybrid swap, turbocharger the KA. |

My first car had a SBC in it, so for me, torque was the way to go. And it doesn't get any torquier (is that a word?) than driving 0psi to 2600, and having full boost at 2900 to redline. Cams help the car to bounce off the rev limiter when I'm not paying attention ![]() -Jeff

finally, some good info. thanks so much guys. it's looking more and more like i should just rebuild the ka that's in the car now. i am def. looking for that low/mid torque. my evo is the mid to top end freak. don't get me wrong, i love it. i'm just looking to do something different w/ this car. i'm not going to be trying the whole drift comp thing here, so the suspension doesn't have to be nuts. i found some tein ss w/ edfc for a good price. ??? i've got to take care of this suspension/tires first. they're wrecked. oh, i need to replace the diff as well. good thing my father-in-law owns a salvage yard
![]() thanks again, jeremy |
