i did a tiny bit of googling for you;
seems like your only options are ebay shit and lower end shit. isis, cxracing, godspeed, etc. no one makes stuff for these engines cause no one runs them. if guys really get into sohc's, they're usually ebay kits or diy-ugly-welds-but-it-works style. mazworx sort of almost provided precut/bent piping to make your own but the response was lol-worthy and they scrapped the idea. Yeah seems like the age of turboing a KA is over. I was hoping someone on here had a decent manifold for sale. Not really keen on paying 400 bucks for something that cracks after a few events.
Thanks for the input! |

I'd argue KA's are gaining much popularity due to everyone already having an SR and it not being that exclusive JDM engine it used to be. The glamor has worn off.
Can't say much for SOHC though.. the aftermarket for DOHC seems pretty plentiful right now with even more legitimate brands hopping on board. btw, most expensive sohc turbo mani i found was $205. If you're looking to buy legit parts i'd honestly recommend looking for a dohc. they're pretty common motorsets to find, you'll still be KA, and your turbo options will be more opened up to high end brands. doesn't have the aftermarket that SR does but definitely makes the sohc aftermarket look nonexistent. if not, i've heard of dudes running these ebay kits on stock boost for good amounts of time. I personally have never used them and probably wouldn't especially if you're tracking but you gotta do what you gotta do. |

I would love to run the dohc but I own a 89 with a motor reading 180 compression across the cylinders. Doesn't seem worth it to risk it and buy an unknown condition motor.
Mind sending me a link to the manifold you found? might buy it to just get the set up going until i go ahead and make my own manifold. |

funny that you say that, I just picked up a sohc 89 and the motor is super healthy. currently being pulled out so I can put my old (but now built) ka-de in it haha.
SOHC Turbo Manifolds Isis and CX Racing look the most appealing aesthetically. Godspeed looks the beefiest. Anything under those three brands.. Idk probably wouldn't trust those parts on a lawn mower. |

hahaha yeah wasn't going to put it out like that, but it'll probably go on craigslist for a day or two and then when it's taking up space and no one replies, sent off to scrap. I can already see this unfolding in my head.
and then knowing my luck, an hour after it's crushed, someone will hit me up with more than my asking price for no reason. but yeah maybe try the CX one and if it cracks, you could actually try your hand at welding too. who knows, maybe you'll be a natural and start cranking out your own line of manifolds, lol. |

Hopefully I can start making my own before it cracks!
Thanks again for the input. I'll keep my searching the forums for the next week or two before I take the plunge and buy one online. |

good luck. i know you posted looking to buy used but really don't know what your options are out there. i'd be willing to bet that all of the used ones you can find are the same brands. so maybe you'll find a better price, who knows.
