Did you install? or have it installed for you?

SR, RB, CA , whatever engine you put in your car, did you take the time to do it yourself? or did you pay a professional? If you did do it yourself did you have much experience beforehand or did you just kinda wing it and made it your first big project?

easy as pie. Just do it. NIKE. actually baking pie is a lot harder than swapping an engine.

sometimes it's really deceiving when you hear that a certain car task is easy. There are so many different levels of competence here on zilvia and i think a lot of people forget that. After a lot of experiences as a first-timer on a lot of installs, whenever I read something like "a half an hour job" I end up taking 1 or 2 hours on it. its pretty frustrating sometimes, i'm probably just slow too.

Well I guess I can say that I really did not install it all my self since it came stok to the car but I have re-built it twice already once back to stock and then the second time everything forged. It is really easy if you: 1. Take your time, 2. Have the FSM (factory service manual) for both cars if possible. 3. Have some friends there to help out thoes little things will make it go as easy as possible ( there will always be rusty bolts or mis threaded nuts) but take your time and it will go alot easier than most people think. It is a matter of getting past that fear of.....Damn am I going to take it apart and will I beable to put it back together in your mind.

in my opinion,

you aren't learning shit if you don't do it yourself. if you need your car for a daily driver or can't afford a cheap beater, you shouldn't be swapping out the engine anyway.

I look at it this way, people who pay for install either have the money (doubtful with 240 owners), or don't have the knowledge (common with 240 owners). It's highly uncommon to have someone willing to learn, that's why shops stay in business and make good money, yet the work most of them do is nowhere near as good as if someone did it themselves, because it's not their car. That's the sad thing, you pay someone $1500 to put a motor in and they do a complete half ass job.
I actually like the fact that 240 owners don't have any motivation, gives me the opportunity to overcharge too and make easy money. An SR swap from any car to any other car is a 8 hour job, total, unless you get creative and really clean it up. $1000 for 8 hours work isn't bad.

Did it myself with help from friends.

Good times. Feels rewarding when it cranks to life, and you didn't pay some shop a grip of cash to install it.

Did it myself; the wiring process isn't as hard as some people make it out to be. Patience patience patience! It's the little things that slow you down and confuse you during the swap.

Well, seems guys like me are rather under-represented here...Its okay, YEA, I payed Phase2, and I have to say fellas...THE CAR RUNS PERFECT. I mean, no problems whatsoever...thats what I paid for...You have all been in the technical forums, and all I see is "SR in, won't start...OR, Pulling last of hair out, car won't start...runs like shit...etc". Now, granted this may be the first swap these folks have done, and I have to give them that, but I did not have the time nor the resources to do it...I thought about...really seriously, but in the end, I paid 1800 bucks, and have a perfectly running SR...THANK YOU PHASE2!

However, I have done all other work on my ride, Z32 brake swap (Front & Rear), suspension...etc...no problems...

holy crap, $1800 for installing a motor? WOAH i think i found a new business to get into i didnt realize people were willing to pay that much. I installed my motor and it's running perfectly. I figure it's my project car, ILL do it. Unless of course i didnt have the space. Time isnt an excuse, since thats what project cars require

Well.... I've been doing all sorts of swaps for a while now, mostly Hondas and Nissans. But the crappy thing was.. when i started on my car, lots of shit went wrong. Anyhoo.... yeah i did it myself. Pretty much worth it. Saves lots of money and is easier than most people think. The hardest part is cleaning up the damn engine bay and probably getting everything at a good price. piece of cake.
