Battery backwards...
Hey guys, so like a dumbass i hooked my battery up backwards... i know i know it was dark and i was throwimg a old battery in my car to move it and obviously hooked it up backwards. I immediately noticed and pulled the terminal off it was a pretty junk battery, and the terminal was only on for about a second, but it still sparked and now my car wont start. It cranks and gets fuel but no spark. Its a s13 with a redtop sr and a WS harness. Its not the ecu because i have a few extras and tried them with the same results. I checked my fuses under the hood and dash and none were blown or seamed burnt. ..and help would be great now. Ive read something about a fuseable link is that the 75amp alt fuse? Because if so that looks fine..

Fuseible link's are usually the 2nd wire that plugs in to your harness at your battery terminal, the red plug. I haven't touched a 240 in awhile so I can't remember exactly but thats usually where they are, at least y skyline is...not the alternator fuse thats something different.
You probably fucked that, maybe fried your harness itself, possibly the ignitor. The real shitty thing could be if your harness fried you could potentially fry the entire body harness and everything. That happened at a dodge dealer i worked at in a stealth. the entire cars wiring had to be replaced. |

At this point i was leaning toward the ignitor.. what am i looking for on the fuseable link to signify it being bad? It looks pretty normal i guess. Lol

Oh no. I did this to my camaro 15 years ago. good luck it wasnt that bad. I think the fuel pump seized.
In a 240sx? I would swap the igniter (try to keep spares of these and fuses handy), the fuses. Then pull a spark plug and try spinning CAS (plug in a spare cas and try turning it with the ignition on to generate a spark) then diagnose from that point, (instead of keep cranking the engine use the spare CAS). |

oh i remember now. the fuel pump didnt seize, that was another pump I ran backwards using a battery. the fuel pump in the Camaro kept working fine- but when I plugged the battery backwards it pumped all the fuel out of my engine and into the tank (reversed) haha I just remembered that. took forever to re-prime and start once i got it right.
