what's the story behind that VW surge tank?

A reputable shop recommended it instead of the overflow tank.

Helps keep air out very well and temps at a constant 190 degrees. Been using it the past year with no problems

Vw tanks are kick ass they hardly ever fail and when they do its usually just the sensor. Bump for a clean zenki

Yes. Sensor wired up and a code will result in the check engine light. Just like stock
