KA24DE mechanically locked timing tensioners
Up for sale are NEW mechanically locked timing chain tensioners. I buy new tensioners and perform the modifications. Utilizing stainless steel set screws no concerns over corosion/rust/strength. Check out the youtube video below for demonstration on a mock up block. To view a discussion over theory of design, visit this link http://www.ka-t.org/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=61864

Have you actually tested these on a running engine for an extended period of time or under loads? Something tells me you will chew through guides and these are going to be noisy as fuck.

There is still oil pressure being applied to the back side of the piston forcing it against the chain like in the stock setup. This keeps it off the set screw. Factory tensioners of the same design (SR20, F20c,F22c, K20, K24 ect ect) are quiet as they are assisted by oil pressure.

1st start
The car is running megasquirt and was a little togh to start before. Since the mod it seems to pop off a little easier and quicker. Hope to get to the dyno soon and get back with more positive results.

Tuned the car at 10psi 93oct 272s so far so good just working out any issues before cranking the boost. I ruined 1 set of these trying to make them 225 is a good deal lol

I took my timing chain cover off and made sure the tensioners were free of gunk and sliding in its piston freely. Sometime when lazy people don't change oil for 10k or more miles it gets gunked up. And, you have to inspect the chain tensioners. Mine were good. but that was 10 years ago. I should probably crack it open to make sure oil squirters work.

Just tore the engine down to do 12mm head studs and bigger valves. Virtually no wear on the tensioners after numerous dyno pulls, 2 drift events and some street driving.

I don't see why there wouldn't, since horsepower doesn't really have an effect on timing hardware, and other engines (sr20 for example) have mechanically locked tensioners from the factory which these are just emulating.

That is awesome!! I might be interested haha...I’ve just added a secondary spring to mine that I’ve picked up at Home Depot. It’s a little smaller in diameter than the original one so it fits right through and about the same tension more, less..Hopefully it helps a little when I get my motor up and running lol.
