Quality of old flywheel?
I did some search and it seems like flywheel in all 240SX are same no matter what year they are.
So I am thinking about buying an S13 flywheel for my S14 because they are cheaper to buy from junkyards. But I wanna know if it is ok to use older flywheel as long as I resurface it. Would their be any performace/safety issue with old flywheels? |

There is no problem as long as it's got no more than a little surface rust.
Resurface it and install it, done deal. .75" thick pieces of hardened steel are hard to mess up. - Brian

actually yeah there are major problems that can happen with a old flywheel or one thats not the same diameter or thickness. If you get an old with that has defects like cracks or its got hotspots or have been resurfaced to much it may not work at well as you think it should. For instance you might not get into gear if its to thick. But naturally if its old you bound to come across some problems sometime down the road.
You better off buying a new flywheel. Its only like what 50 something plus your old flywheel.

by the way the flywheels aren't all the same, SOHC & DOHC flywheels will both bolt upto any ka crank however they use different clutches

Thanks for the replies guys.
I would still be able to use S13 DOHC flywheels for S14 right? No go for new flywheels. Dealership wants $300 plus for it and I am looking to spend under $50. I'll keep looking around. |
