I was wonderin if anyone knows how to tell if your slave cylinder is going bad?

My slave cylinder went out this week.  Clutch would not fully return, felt like it was not fully disengaging.

Looked underneath vehicle to see slave cylinder leaking.  Cost me $36 to replace.  Not a big deal.
