mad brake fading and smell
ok well as I was tuning my MBC, I was out and about and coming back to my street, im like wtf, almost had to pull the ebrake, then I came home and got out, there was a lil smoke coming from driver side front wheel, and I looked in engine bay and didnt really see any, so im figureing its coming from the brake shit, but there is no fluid leaking or anytihng, and reservoir is full, pulled wheel and didnt notice much, u guys got any ideas, btw, before this, brakes feel like a friggen brand new car, makes me wonder if I even need z brakes.
btw, is it normal for my steelies to burn my hand even 30 minutes after car is shut off, i mean , this is weird, I could see maybe if my brakes were really good and clamped, then they shluld be hot, but if they suck and are fading, that means not much pressure is on em. and shouldnt be hot, only other car ive had is a mustang w alloy rims and they never got hot, so maybe im overreacting bout that, |

eveen the backs are semi warm, I figured that they werent as hot due to backs not being as aggressive as fronts are, so how would one fix a sticking caliper, and is it normal for both fornts to stick at same time, cause it seems that the fronts are both getting this hot,

warm is perfectly normal, but if both your fronts are that hot to the point of smoking....im not so sure. i just pulled the calipers and saw if i could move the piston at all w/ a c-clamp/. also see if the slide pins are locked up. you may have different problems, this just seems like exactly what was happening to me when i had a sticking caliper.

If one is sticking, replace both on the same axel. One of my friends cars actually had all calipers seized. My car had both rears seized and my pass. side front was pretty stiff. Also depending on how many miles are on the car replace all the brake fluid. It won't help a sticking caliper, but is good insurence.

Yeah over heated fluid will cause the brake fade as well as the brakes could no longer disipate the heat and they end up smoking something...
Whenever you push a piston back in you should always open up the bleader screw so that you don't push the contaminated brake fluid back in the system, which could cause a sticking caliper... -chris
