Old school Import tuning equipment.. name it

Ok, this may sound really stupid to alot of people here Frankly i don't care haha. I am wanting to go way back, im building a coupe its an 89 its going to be my personal car for daily driving and occasional track outings. I know there is better stuff now, but i want an old school setup just cause...
I have been playing with 240's for nearly 10 years now and back then there wasn't quite the selection of electronics or tuning equipment that there is now yet people still built cars that made power and were fun. Im wanting to build a nostalgic style car sticking mainly to parts that were developed back from mid 80s till mid 90's stuff that was becoming the cheap and used parts i could pick up on the low low around 10 years ago when i started in this hobby.so anyone thats been around that long help me out. i want to start a index of parts if you got pictures post them up with the parts. most of people just getting into this hobby will probably never heard of alot of the parts or have only seen their up to date versions. Also lets here how they worked and were they a PITA to use. some of you new guys might find this slightly interesting if your a car geek like myself.

the last old school part i was trying to get ahold of was a VPC and GCC for a Ca18det but i could never find one with the CA chip in it. only supra versions.

Jon

The VPC and GCC were both flat out AMAZING for their time, good shit. I used to have an old HKS IPM that I mounted under my steering column just because it was so damn silly to look at. I love all the older stuff too because it's big and clunky, but simple to use. I have a friend with an EVC V I think, the one that looks like an AFC, I swear it's like trying to program a nuclear missile launch. Give me a knob I can turn any day.

there a bunch of old styles i remember and some from the hyper rev mags would give you a better idea, but usually wheels no larger than 15-16 inches were pretty common rarely 17's if any. Jspec has alot of older stuff, stock aero was pretty common with the occasional b-wave aero and some old veilside shit haha i don't remember everything but back when i was like 13-14 i liked alot of that stuff hah

(EDIT) also there weren't many coilover setups, usually just strut and spring combos if you want to take it that far, as well as sweet 80's and early 90's haircuts

trust me i remember the days before coilovers were state side... i tried to buy a set of Tein HA's the first day a local shop brought them over from Japan for one of their employees. i was picking up a eibach and tockico setup and the UPS guy dropped the teins on the counter and they opened them in front of me, but wouldnt sell them to me even when i offered him on the spot way more cash then they were worth.

I actually have an HKS VPC for the SR20det which will be sold soon as it is not supported in Europe and no one has any idea how to use them.

hahaha

old school Greddy Rebic... Injector controller

add additional injectors

then get

a pivot afc .... old school shit im talking mid to late 90's here

Bhahah so shonky!!

then use the CAS to adjust timing

so you basically get.. air control, fuel control and ignition control in one!! and if you want.. get a fuelregulator and tune it from there... try get a stable air fuel curve as you can..

waste lots of petrol
but whocares ..back then petrol was worth nothing hahha
