when you roll fenders on an s13, how much clearance do/can you gain?

That roller really sux, for a quality job to clear wider tires under any drift car,nissan,mazda,etc. You'd be better off rolling with a heat gun and metal tube, or a baseball bat, all that roller does is push the fender lip out, a wider tire would not clear, even if you tried to stretch the tires a far as you could, it doesn't roll the inner-upper portion of the fender at all. . . .

would a body shop know how to roll a fender to clear a set of 9inch wide tires?

If the body shop was good they'd know how to do it.

And you can get a 9inch wide rim to fit with the right tire combo and some camber adjustments.

fender rolling isnt rocket science..

this is what i used to roll my rear.... it came out just as good... no cracked paint.. no ripples...

It looks like steel. Rubber hammers are usually round.

Have you ever even used this tool?
If you just want to roll the lip you tilt the wheel at about 45* and the heat it up and roll. You won't fuck up with this tool at all. It's quick, it's easy. Plus you can pull the fender to you heart's desire. It works perfectly, even on 'drift cars'.

You can't really "pull" with a hammer. Only hammer up the lip. That gives clearance, but the fender roller allows you to reform the fender so it flares out. Pulling fenders usually is more time consuming and costs more.

very true... although i wouldnt even think about pulling my fender with a hammer.. pulling my fender would be the only reason i would buy a "fender roller"

I rolled mine with a mallet, very similar to that one. Have a friend hold a roll of duct tape on the lip of the fender while you hammer so you can smash the lip down as flat as possible without sending too much impact into your friends arms. Works like a charm and is free. Now if you wanna pull the fenders, the roller is necessary.

Yeah, a strong body shop better have the knowledge to know where and how to properly roll/ pull the fender to clear a 9'" wheel in width, otherwise don't tell me where they're located. I have a spot that I was introduced to by my cousin, but I haven't allowed him any hands ion my car yet as far a tuning the fenders. . . . I will get back to all on that with images soon enough.

so a mallet huh? no cracks?? thats odd . everyone says that if you dont use a heatgun, the paint will crack. guess not
