So not sure how often they go bad. But does anyone have an experiences that they could share with me. When it has gone bad what happens? What was the motor doing?

It probably won't do $hit if the CAS is bad. When a working unit is unplugged the engine won't start (but it will throw a code 11, iirc).

What are the symptoms that you are experiencing? If you just finished your swap, you might want to check your wiring again.
