I got replies on how to fix the idle on my engine, such as: clean the maf, battery terminals, check for vacuum leaks.
Now, can someone give me a better description of where the maf is and what it looks like(is it a plug w/wires? is it a hose or tube?) also what and where is the aiv at? and where would vacuum leaks leak? Please help please!!!

Mass air flow is the chunk of aluminum that is attached to your stock airbox. It has a connector harness pluged into it. It meters the incoming intake airflow.

Vacuum hoses are all over the place. Pull off a hose, if it sucks  <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

the maf is a thing that looks like a metal peice.
It is located easily by following the intake pipe until u reach a metal peice that has like wires and crap on it.  I guess if you wanna clean it, you can take it out and just use some tissue or something and wipe out whatever might be in there.

Next: the battery terminals is located where the battery is.
You know the negative and positive terminals?
Thats what they mean by terminals, its just simply the two wires that connect to the battery,
I guess if you wanted to clean that, you would just take some tissue or something and clean that off too.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree w/ Hybrid240. If you don't even have a general idea of what and where each of those parts are you should not even touch that car. Most of those should be taken care of or noticed each time you change your oil or do a minor tune-up. Take it to a mechanic or someone that might be able to show you.

I know everyone needs to learn sometime, but you might wanna waite till someone can take their time to show you. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Don't listen to him, its called "LEARNING". We all have to do it. I suggest picking up a Shop manual for your car. The library has a Chiltons, but they can be somewhat inacurate.

I agree, the first thang that you need to do is git yer hands on a service manual. Chiltons is good to start out with, but it's not very detailed. It should be fine for a "newbie" mechanic. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

The manual has a glossary that defines the accronyms that we all use. (MAF, TPS, EFI, and so on)

Well, the best you can do, is as everyone is telling you. And get a couple shop manuals and even an owners manual could help a little. Atleast everyone isnt screwing around like the oil change thread that's sum funnie chit. Just take your time and learn where the parts are. Most important is you need to find out what they do and how they work as a whole w/ the engine. Good Luck!
