so you are saying that the headlight wont go up nor down when you shut off the car but will it go up and or down while it is running ?

fried motor?
pull them out and do the manual 12V thing... maybe it's just a bad connection somewhere, if they're twitching and you can HEAR the motors slightly trying, it's prolly a lack of proper current (either in the wiring, or in the motor assembly ie. like when your starter goes bad).

Also, I had a friend with an 89 who played with the motor adjustment knobs too much one day, and the popups just plain stopped working.

In any event, if it turns out your lights are fried, I'll have some up for sale shortly (they're black)

Um. Mine there was something stuck and the motor wasn't strong enough to move it. I hit the button that keeps them up and then pulled hard to force it up and then it worked again. Try that.

umm yea they beat me to it.... its usually cuz they get stuck and hit something, so the twicthing noise u hear is the headlight trying to reset itself, by the way when u touch the motor is it hot as fuck? cuz yea... they'll go out

that twitching that happens is drawing current from the battery right? is it strong enough to drain the battery overnight? i had the same problem and thought nothing of it next day i went to my car and my battery was dead .

exactly right, the "twitching" you hear is most likely the motor armature's arcing as it tries to spin... the brushes try to make it go like it should, but if it's seized it's just creating a load... in effect draining your power faster than if they were just in normal operation.

the motors twitch because sometimes they seize up. The heat you guys feel is from the motor overworking itself. Try banging it if it happens again.
