![]() Well for some reason this noise is happening when i start her up even after shes warmed up.
I have about 900 ml (.9 qrts) of lucas oil stabalizer in there. The engine has 205k kms on it. I recently changed the clutch and the headers. Both work, and no leaks. Theres no coolant in the oil or anything related to headgasket. My vavle seals are kinda hard. Its been instorage for about 5 months now. Had fuel stabalizer in it. Recently put 10 litres of 94 octane and toluene into the tank. Just put in 10w30 oil (so 2.5 litres). Resealed the oil pan and flushed the engine. Tightened the ps pump line (didnt remove the alt.) There still might be a couple vaccuum hoses from the charcol canister that I might need to plug but most are venting. Water pump seems to be good. AIV is removed. All grounds are tight and on. There is a bit of a rough idle so im thinking that maybe the rotor might be going so ill be replacing that very soon along with the plugs. The plugs are black at the top and have a white deposit on the tip (which is what I would assume lean conditions). Even the dyno proved that but the ka apparently really likes it. Theres a bit of oil on the first rev but that is mainly to do with the valve seals. (doesnt happen again). Anyways heres a movie of the noise sorry I could have a better location. heres a link its with imagestateion :/ http://www.imagestation.com/album/in...?id=2129866042 |

Yeah could be the starter, why are you running 94 octane plus toulene? KA's dont' require high octane because they're not that high compression and not turbo in your case. I'd keep it at whatever pump gas is , dont add toulene. I ran my 98 ka on 89 octane pump gas, worked better than 91.

im running the toluene as a solvent to help clean out the fuel system because it has been sitting for 5 months there was some old gas in the gastank. As i said used fuel stabalizer. It runs well but the idles rough which is probably because of the rotor.
So is this normally what starters do before they go? |

Well its not very good for the flywheel tooth .. if you dont want to buy another one, take it out and go to a starter/alternator rebuild shop .. he can check if everything alright with it
