DSG shop car update
engine bay on the 318 SR is more or less complete...need to make an engine harness, then fire it up.
![]() ![]() ![]() Almost ready to start the cage on the 240. When the mini gets off the rotisserie this week its going on there. The underside is the only thing left to stitch weld. The chassis cage material is 4130 1.675" x .065 and the rear cage for the fuel cell and a few other things will be 4130 in 1.25" x .065. ![]() ![]() |

#1) its 3x the capacity as a factory sized filter #2) The oil will be changed at 100 mile intervals #3) Explain to me why a fram filter is any worse or better than whatever you would suggest as an alternative.

Anyways, here is a good read: A very long posting of various experiences... Engine Oil filter Study... Another bad experience with an NSX... Yet another bad experience... OFF TOPIC: Motorcycle experience... More personal thoughts... This is just an FYI, as many swear by FRAM. I know that I will never use them. The walmart Tech2k filters are contructed with rubber caps and metal casing on the filter element and are cheaper than the FRAMs. I had no bad experiences with them in the past at all. Even the valuecraft from autozone are constructed better than the FRAM cheapies IMO... ![]() |

fram, like all wicks products, is total crap. anyone who isnt paid to sell you fram parts will tell you this. if you want a cheap, quality filter get a purolator pur1, same as mobil1 but 1/3 the price

Zero, thank you for those links. There are some good testimonials there. As far as I can research, the fram racing filter that we are using is of a completely different design than their street filters. For service and street use we only use factory OEM filters but for the size of the filter and the change intervals it seemed like this was the best option. I have worked for circuit and rally teams who all use fram racing filters and have never had a problem.
