FS: Redtop SR = $1700 JWT/Greddy Goodies = $1000
EDIT 1/12/05: PRICE REDUCED, another time;
Price lowered. $1600 gets the motor and OEM parts, $1000 gets the JWT + Greddy stuff. 2500 gets it all! ---------------------------------------------- Im selling my SR and at this point I just want to sell it for a loss and move on. Ive spent a few thousand dollars and countless hours on it. The head is off of the block and COMEPLETLY dissassembled. The valves have been reground, the valve seats have been reground to FSM specs, bronze valve guides from JWT have been installed in the exhaust side. The head has been checked with a straight edge and there is no warpage. I have purchased the following parts from JWT (THEY ARE STILL IN THE BOX): C1 Cams Cam Sprockets Valve Springs/Retainers Pic can be found here. GREDDY ROCKER ARM STOPPER KIT IS SOLD. The engine will need an OEM gasket kit, CAS, intercooler (the one that came off of the clip had a major hole), clutch/flywheel, and filter element. Keep in mind these are parts you would likely replace during any SR swap. The following are pictures of the parts that were left over from the clip: parts 1 parts 2 parts 3 parts 4 parts 5 parts 6 parts 7 Not pictured is the transmission, OEM Cams, springs, and gears which come with the engine. So $2600 for the motor and OEM parts + $1200 for the JWT and Greddy parts + $200 for the machine work. 2600 + 1200 + 200 = 4000 Im in northern California, about 30 minutes outside Sacramento. Email me at [email protected] or post questions. More pics: Clip as I got it Engine + Tranny Prior to machine work Reground valves Repainted valve cover I should also note that this is posted on NICO, FreshAlloy, and NCDA. $2600 is way way too much for a disassembled motor. Sorry man, I'm in the market right now, but I can get a complete clip for that price!

WOW, sorry, I can get an assembled engine with tranny for 2600, now if you were offering this at a price of 2600 this would make sense, but then you tack on all the other expenses, GL man.

$2600 for the motor, tranny. OEM parts, and JWT parts? Thats kinda low. All this needs for assembly is the head to be put back together and put back on the block. Its not that much work. If your serioulsy interested, send an email my way and we can talk price. I am negotiable. |

Alright, lets talk about this. You want $2600 for the motor, tranny...basically everything but the JWT parts. It still needs a crank angle sensor($?), flywheel ($300), clutch($400), all new gaskets ($75), and STOCK SMIC ($200). By now, we have another $1000+ wrapped up into an S13 REDTOP on top of your $2600. Then there is shipping ($350), and however many man hours it will take to put the head back together, which won't be as "easy" as you suggest. It will require a lot of time that some of us guys working 10+ hours a day, 6 days a week will find hard to come by.
I don't mean to bash, because I am genuinely interested in your engine, but once you add every "stock" part up, people will be much better off buying a complete front clip from somebody for less than $3000 shipped, a common price. And if you were going to rebuild a specific part of the SR, why the head? I rarely...if ever, hear of some sort of a head failure without extreme over-rev, which maybe you had. But if it were me, and I was going to tear down one part of the SR, and then try and sell the engine with that rebuilt portion as an "extra," the pistons and rings would be the first place I'd go. But thats just me, maybe circumstances forced a head rebuild. Either way, good luck with the sale man, and if you decide to come down somewhere around $2000 for the motor, get in contact with me. I'm buying within the next two weeks or so. -ben [email protected]

The head was exposed to much abuse (the factory valve guides were almost twenty thousandths over size!!!). After replacing those, a cascade of "might as well" work and upgrades followed (three angle valve job, JWT and GReddy parts). And Im not asking 2600 for just a motor and transmission, Im asking it for everything I pulled off of the clip that most keep for the inevitable swap. If half of a junkyard car with a bunch of useless parts makes the motor worth a few hundred dollars more Im sure I could go out and find one. BTW, email sent. |
