Trouble Starting 240...
I have searched on this topic with no good results. My problem is...
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...ight=irving18m Refer to that link from my previous post 2-3 months ago about when my car was hot and when i would attempt to start it i would get crank crank crank and no start. Answer was to clean the engine temp sensor and it worked perfectly every since then on starting. Now its novembver here in texas and its chilly outside, not hot anymore. So now when the car sits overnight and i go to work in the morning the car starts fine for the most part. But if I drive to work and work my 8-9 hours or shorter and come out to go home...(by this time the car is fully cooled down)...the car only cranks and cranks and after finally several attempts and giving the car gas, it will finally start. Its identical to my last problem but now it has nothing to do with my engine temperature as before. Sometimes it seems as if after i turn the car off and try to start it back up that the battery is dead, but a good few taps with a wrench on my posts helps that problem but the hard starting im not sure what to try. Any ideas? This is my DD. Thanks! ![]() |

IACV/AICV valve, have you tried cleaning it out? Very common part to get stuck/go bad.

hahahaha... i laugh because this happened to me, but my situation was a little different; started in the warm, didn't in the cold.
anyway, try checking the fuse for your fuel pump. if it's still good, check fuel lines for pressure (disconnect fuel line, turn ignition to 'on' see if anything pumps out BE CAREFUL!) My fuel pump went bad, and kept blowing fuses because of it. Kicked me in the ass at the worst time; I was 120 miles north of LA(home) going towards NorCal, stopped, and wouldn't turn back on. I had to get towed ALL the way back. hope this helps

Well left work today....car had set for 12 hours so perfectly cooled down....crank crank crank crank for several minutes and it would not fire up. Its now sitting at my job.
And the fuel pump primes every time, I had someone turn the ignition as i listenended in the rear so im going to cross off fuel pump/fuse hopefully. And what exactly is the IACV valve? I know what the AIV is right before the air box which i have removed with no problems since a long time ago. Any other ideas please? Im desperate...i have to get my car running. Thanks |
