missing front strut locking ring on one side is this bad?

sup I installed my front suspension the other day and after the install I lost or was missing on of the locking pin that lock on the strut shaft on one side. How bad is it that im not using this piece? What will it do if it not installed?
The picture shows the pin in the middle of the perch. What exactly is this pin suppose to lock cuz on the other side with the pin installed the perch still rotated with the strut shaft?

The strut shaft will rotate when installing the nut.
Try to improvise something similar.
By any means DONT use a wrench on the strut shaft. You will damage it.
