sr20det or rb25det which would u pick?

Ok my situation: I have an s13 sr in my s14 chasis. I could either mod this thing to the balls or purchase an rb25det at the end of the summer and sell the sr20det. I only drive the car pretty much from April till end of October and during that time it is a daily driver. My goal is to have a mid to low 11 second car. So should i sell or should i just work with what i have? Would the Rb be more reliable at those HP numbers or would both the engines be the same? What would u guys do if u were in my shoes? Thanx in advance. any opinion or information would be helpful?

the RB would definitely be more reliable at those power levels, but you allready own the sr and its in the car. 400whp, will give you mid/low 11 second car and that is doable on an sr not that terribly hard. rb26dett would be my rb choice also. Just keep what you have, use the money saved from buying an rb to pay someone to rebuild your sr strong as f

RB26 install is a lot more work. RB25 install is a walk in the park and its capable of plenty of horsepower on the stock block for our chassis's

hmmm... rb25 and rb26 use the same mounts. why would rb25 be cake and 26 be harder? wiring is close to the same as well. hmmm.... ok anyways keep the SR. they have enought potential to run with the big boys, and with all the money you are using to buy a RB might as well build the SR. but i dont know if you want to drive an 11sec car daily. that just my 2 cents.

well the Rb26 swap costs mad money. I would end up doing it myself except the wiring but the motor and tranny alone is running like 6g's, plus parts, plus other technical shit u dont count on............the list goes on. So yeah i guess ill leave my SR.

never done one eh mixwell? maybe just maybe its the fact that the unless you go to a single turbo setup on the 26 its much harder to even go there with the twin turbo setup.
RB25's are basically the same price as a SR these days . Lots of people are starting to carry parts , more mount kits and ideas are starting to appear . On top of that a SR starts to need a lot of work to be reliable and not go pop in the 400 hp range. RB 's can do that on completely stock internals all day long . Don't believe me? Talk to Richard Tang about the SR HP situation he has only gone through 4 stock block engines and come to the realization that 370 hp is the max stock block reliable hp you want with a SR .
Want to know about the RB ask slide squad mark who has been running a completely stock internal 400 hp daily driver RB25 S13 for the last year.
Oh ya and you will spend more money build that SR to be reliable at 400hp vs the RB with bolt ons reliable 400hp
.

question is do u want to be able to turn also><

personally id go with sr.... but thats because i like to turn. mid 12's on slicks with very minor mods is easily attainable with an sr, i dont know about 11's but damn id be more happy with 12's and can keep up with an s2000 ap2 chassis on the mountain, than 10's in a straight line with an rb.

p.s. if u think an rb equipped car can turn with everyone else, show me a clip of that on the mountain. edit: if i didnt live on a mountain(litterally) than i would go through the anal reaming to put an rb in...

The RB25 and the RB26 are basically the same degree of pain in the rectum. If you already have an SR and it is a good one....stick with it...enjoy it...and be thankful you have all that time to drive that you would be spending in a garage pulling your hair out over an RB installation that is a nightmare.

If you have the time, experience, and such...the RB25 or 26 is a great swap. If you aren't really experienced, and skilled....leave it to the biggens.

That's a good point too. The RBs are HUGE compared to the SR. They WILL screw up handling. You will push terribly in the turns. (regardless of what RB lovers/SR haters will tell you)

on the other hand(vs. my other post) if u live in arizona desert or something than id do the rb, 400rwhp sr's dont have very nice power bands, whereas 380-400 rwhp rb's have optimum(if not very nice and flat) power bands

i live on a mountain, and our freeway has a 45-50 mph speed limit so i wouldnt take an rb in hawaii
