Any of you guys experience the intake tube rubbing the heat shield material on the hood? A long time ago I bought a AEM short ram and had the same problem so I ended up going back to the stock intake tube paired up with the MAFS adapter & a cone filter. I just bought a Injen intake with the cold air extention, seemed like the mounting didnt quite match up plus its rubbing. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, ~Kevin |

Just a thought on my own post, maybe if I tried using a longer piece of the silicone tubing that mates the intake tube to the throttle body I might be able to get it to lay down a little more since the longer silicone tubing will give/bend more then the short one that butts the intake tube up close to the throttle body....

is the injen intake perfect fit on yr s13? because i know a lot of intakes just like those on ebay are missing a place to put a hose to it which coming from the bottom of the car.... i don't know what that hose for...

The Injen one has every hookup. My AEM intake I bought like 4 years ago for my S13 was the same as "the ebay" ones you mention.....without the hose hookup that goes down towards the ground. Where does it go you ask? It goes down into sort of resonator box (plastic). Have you taken out the plastic box under your drivers side front fender that your stock intake plumbs to, its just like that. IMO the Injen kinda sucks as far as fitment. I used one of the silicone tubes from my AEM (it was longer) and tried to solve my problem but still the mounting seems way off to me plus its still rubbing on hood liner. What the heck its a na KA, im not gonna get any sort of HP out of it. I should have relocated the battery, lengthened my MAFS wiring and ran my intake straight down into the passengerside fender....The cold air ext seems to make a difference when the car is cool, I think once it heats up all the cool air turns burning ass HOT since the intake pipe runs right accross/next to the radiator.

During a warmer/hot day, (like here in SoCal), the daytime ambient air temperature is a lot warmer thus reducing some of the benefit of the cold air intake....colder air has more mass due to molecular bonding...etc..blah blah blah. The intake pipe running across/next to the radiator doesn't make a difference at all be it day or night. The ambient air passing thru the inside of the intake pipe is going thru the pipe so fast that the radiant heat coming off the radiator doesn't make a difference at all. It's the ambient air temperature, (the air we breathe & feel against our skin), that makes a difference as it rushes into the intake/combustion chamber & reacts with the fuel mixture shot in by the injectors as it's exploded by the spark from the plugs. Colder better...warmer not... Anyhow, I'm spouting from my ass again...time to shut up... ID
