Tach wiring help!

I have a Defi tach with the control unit, The power and the illumination is wired up no problem. I tried to wire up the tach signal to the ecu, nothing. Then I read about how the digital ignition systems do not send the correct signal. So I bought an MSD tach adapter. Tried hooking it up to the coils like they said to, and nothing, then tried hooking it up to the ecu and nothing still. I am lost!!!

1989 240sx Fastback
with SR20DET

Please Help!!!
Ive searched and havent come up with squat!

Okay,

I got the tach to get movement when it revs but its displayed wrong and it doesnt move much. Hooked it up to the tach adapter. So I am still in the same position...

No help from no one...

I guess I have another question then. Were does the tachometer signal wire hook up to on the engine. Or, where does it hook it up to on the gauge cluster. So that Might help... I'm searching...
