I just got my car back from MA-Motorsports. They did an execellent job on my rollbar, which has been build around the NASA SRX rules, since its eventually going to be a fullcage for competition in SE-R Cup. I need to finish removing the sound deadening form the floor and paint the rollbar and floor. Then ill be ready for some track events.

Here are some pics of the rollbar finished. Keep in mind the rollbar will be turned into a 6 point cage eventually which is why so much reinforment was used.

I can't tell from the pictures, but how large is the gap between the b-pillar and the main hoop?

from teh b-pillar....i dunno exactly, maybe inch and half... its behind the b-pillar, cause otherwise i wouldnt fit (6'4")

I see now. The main hoop is several inches aft of the seatbelt mounting points.

When you bend 90 degrees at the hips, how long is it from the bottom of your feet to your tailbone?

That setup looks scary because the purpose of the main hoop is to keep the b-pillars from collapsing. With the way it's set up now, if you flip the car, the side panel and quarter glass will hit the main hoop and the roof will collapse several inches. Since you're tall, the roof will most likely collapse into the space that your helmet usually occupies.

Just curious why you decided to move the main hoop back like that.

I built mine the same way. Basically if there is a roll over, the B-pillar will still only collapse up until the tube anyway, whether is right next to it or not. I'm not sure if he's going to do this when he finishes - but mine is also gusseted to the b-pillar.

Forgot to add - cool cage.

we decided on teh mounting point due to how far i haev to have the seat back formy legs to fit, sorry i dont know the distance off hand tho. The roof cant crush very far at all. The main hoop almost touches the roof at the upper bends, if anythign the roof woul get misshaped over the bar and crush in the front, just like it would with any other rollbar, the b-piller itself wont do much. Being that its only a few inches off, the safety is still there, plus once the front half of the cage goes in, nothing will collapse in the event of a rollover, but for now, this is much safer than not having one at all. My head is just as close to the main hoop in this car as it is with a honda racer and their cages, its all relative to body location, the cage has to fit the driver if he wants to drive at all.
